WASHINGTON, D.C.: The classified documents that President Joe Biden had kept in the basement of his Delaware home were partially viewed by Rep Mike Waltz (R-Fla) on Wednesday, who then demanded that a 'damage assessment' be carried out.

The Florida GOP congressman believes that the information in the documents, dating back to Biden's time in the Senate and while serving as the United States Vice President, is still relevant to current threats, per the New York Post.

What did Mike Waltz say after going through confidential documents?

Rep Waltz wrote on X, “I just reviewed a portion of Biden’s classified documents that were taken from his basement by Special Counsel Hur.”

The House Intelligence Committee member continued, “They were HIGHLY CLASSIFIED and relevant to current national security threats.”

“We need an immediate damage assessment from the Intelligence Community,” the Florida Republican added, urging government agencies to evaluate the threats to the country that Biden's improper handling of the documents presented.

Per the aforementioned outlet, the documents that Waltz had examined pertained to Intelligence Community-derived information that was provided to Joe Biden.

Lawmakers are still contending for access to classified memos and documents derived from the White House.

In March, Special Counsel Robert Hur stated that he had decided not to level criminal charges against the 81-year-old incumbent president over the classified documents probe, in part because President Biden would appear as an "elderly man with poor memory" during the trial.

Hur's investigation revealed that Biden "willfully retained and disclosed classified materials" as a private citizen.

“These materials included (1) marked classified documents about military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, and (2) notebooks containing Mr. Biden’s handwritten entries about issues of national security and foreign policy implicating sensitive intelligence sources and methods,” Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report stated.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that Joe Biden had stored documents, classified up to the "Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information" level, in various locations, including his office at the Penn Biden Center think tank in Washington, DC, his garage in Wilmington, Delaware, and unlocked drawers and cabinets in the basement den of his residence.

Internet slams Mike Waltz's urge to evaluate threat by Biden's hoarding of classified documents

One X user remarked, "Just don't call for it. MAKE IT HAPPEN. No empty rhetoric please."

Another user said, "At this point there is more damage by letting yet another lying R lead his caucus."

Another user wrote, "That’s been investigated, nothing to see here."

One user claimed, "Nothing will happen. Accountability in government is nonexistent."

Another X user snarked, "And yet you're planning on Twitter instead of setting up impeachment articles now."

Finally, this user tweeted, "Trump literally showed highly classified documents to people at his golf course. Why don’t you care about that."
