NORTH CAROLINA: Noah Bliss, a 22-year-old father of three, finds himself facing first-degree murder charges for the tragic death of his 3-week-old baby in North Carolina.
Court documents reveal that investigators believe the father shook his infant son, Gunner Bliss, to death, leading to the devastating legal consequences he now confronts.
What led to infant Gunner Bliss' death?
Noah was taken into custody in October, following an investigation that unfolded after he brought his 'blue' baby to a nurse just days before the infant's untimely demise, as reported by local news outlet WRAL.
Gunner and his twin sister Madelyn Bliss were born prematurely on September 15, only to face a tragic turn of events three weeks later. Gunner brought to the hospital with fatal head trauma, became the center of a harrowing ordeal.
The infant's mother Savannah Bliss, recounted that, at the time of the incident, her husband was caring for Gunner and their 1-year-old child in a hospital room while she tended to Madelyn in the intensive care unit on a different floor. Hospital staff, upon examining Gunner's injuries, conveyed to the mother that they were indicative of shaken baby syndrome.
Noah Bliss admits to possible wrongdoing
The search warrant further revealed that Noah had contacted the sheriff's office days before the child's death, admitting that he might have rocked the baby too hard. In a distressing turn of events, he allegedly informed Savannah of his intention to flee to Florida to avoid arrest for murder.
Further, the search warrant in the case shed light on a chilling encounter, where 22-year-old Noah, despite the apparent distress of Gunner's mother, Savannah, "did not appear to show any emotion," The Messenger reported.
As the legal proceedings unfold, no trial date has been set for Noah, but his next court appearance is scheduled for February 12, according to court records.
