'Get a job': The View's Joy Behar makes crass comment while discussing why Gen Z is afraid to turn 30
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Joy Behar showed no sympathy for the young Americans struggling because of the economy while discussing Gen Z's fear of turning 30, on the January 16 episode of 'The View.'
The topic was introduced at the Hot Topics table by co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who said, "There are plenty of things happening now to be concerned about, but apparently, Generation Z - those are the folks born between the years 1997 and 2013 - are apparently terrified of turning 30."

"There are panicked social media threads from 20-somethings worried about losing their stamina, sex appeal, value as they age…" she burst out laughing, and had to gasp for breath as she continued, "...and that they'll have nothing to offer other than wrinkles, health issues, and death."
She concluded by saying that some people blame the Internet for stirring up 'age-phobia,' and then opened the topic for discussion.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin blames society
"I don't blame (Gen Z) when every single thing you see is anti-aging," she stated, noting that people don't actually look the way they are, and are not body positive at all even though they claim to be. "We are still trying to be real thin."

"And finally, this generation - in defense of Gen Z - they are not hitting the milestones the way every generation before them, did. (The older generation) is owning homes at lower rates, this is while 45% of people between ages 18 and 29 still live with their parents. They feel left behind by the economy and they also see everybody try to not age…"

While Griffin was making her point, Behar cut in by scoffing, "Oh please, get a job!"
Griffin replied that they work multiple jobs, with co-host Sunny Hostin coming in her defense, but Behar was not to be moved from her stance.
With a wave of her hand, the 81-year-old continued, "Get a job. There are a million job openings in this country. Get a job!"
As Hostin came to the defense of Gen Z, being the mother of two who have "lived through the pandemic", Behar once again mocked, "Boo hoo."
She later joked that she did not start her career till she was 40 and that she has "been here for 125 years".
