NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: A 19-year-old who was free on bond and awaiting trials concerning his role in the murder of two people was taken into custody for a shooting incident.

On Friday, February 16, Oswaldo Corado apparently shot a 23-year-old man in his hand and pointed a gun at his cousin at an Antioch park, as per the Metro Nashville police.

The teen, who has been charged with first-degree murder stemming from distinct shootings that occurred in November and December 2020, is facing new charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and serious bodily injury.

Oswaldo Corado is currently in jail on a $150,000 bond

Since the recent incident, parents have been keeping an eye on their children who frequent the Antioch park's playground, as reported by 4WSMV.

A parent, Cassidy Gilbert, expressed, "There has to be harsher punishments for things like that. Make sure we don’t have any crazy people still running out on the streets that are not willing to get their lives together."

Another parent, Margaret Kaelbel, noted, "It’s unfortunate that’s the way society is today. But shootings aren’t going to stop happening until we look at gun reform. We look at mental health reform. We look at prison reform."

In the words of Kaelbel, the legal system as a whole has to be examined for allowing something of this nature to occur. To stop another shooting, she and Gilbert are hoping that Corado will receive harsher penalties.

As a result of this most recent shooting, Corado is currently being held in jail, and his bond has been set at $150,000.

According to court documents, a then 16-year-old Corado was detained in 2020 for two murders that happened precisely one month apart.

He and his co-defendant, Jonathan Morales-Perez, were accused of murdering Alex Presley, 34, who was tragically shot on November 16, 2020, in a vehicle parked on his driveway, and Lee Turner Jr, 22, who was gunned down at a Nolensville Pike bus stop.

In each case, Corado was charged with two counts of criminal homicide and one count of first-degree premeditated murder. He was released after posting a combined $150,000 bond.

The 19-year-old's murder trials are currently set for June 24 and August 26.

According to authorities, as a part of his bond, the teen was prohibited from being near firearms and had to wear an ankle monitor. Corado has an early Tuesday court appearance scheduled to address the charges stemming from the park shooting.
