Outrage as Kamala Harris praises Dick Cheney during Wisconsin rally with his daughter Liz Cheney
RIPON, WISCONSIN: Vice President Kamala Harris was under fire for praising former vice president Dick Cheney while campaigning with his daughter and ex-rep Liz Cheney in Wisconsin on Thursday, October 3.
The backslash stemmed from the vice president to George W Bush's role in the March 2003 invasion of Iraq by the United States, as per Daily Mail.
Prominent Republican father-daughter duo endorsed Harris for the 2024 race over GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump earlier last month.

Speaking to supporters in the Badger State, the Democratic presidential nominee voiced her gratitude and praise for Dick while thanking his daughter for her backing.
"I also want to thank your father, vice president Dick Cheney, for his support, and what he has done to serve our country," Harris said.
Although the vice president's alliance with the former Republican congresswoman might have been difficult for some Democrats to accept, it was her admiration of Liz's father that seemed to cross the line for many politicians and commentators.
However, this is not the first time Harris has explicitly expressed her respect for the Cheneys despite the difference in political ideologies. Soon after receiving the endorsement in September, she said at a Pittsburgh rally that the Cheneys "put the country above party" by supporting her presidential bid.
The former vice president who served under the Bush administration from 2001 to 2009 deemed Trump as a "greater threat to our republic" while endorsing the Democrat.
Joe Biden praises Dick Cheney's 'courage and honesty'
President Joe Biden, after watching the joint campaign event of Harris and Liz, also hailed his vice presidential predecessor Dick.
"I know her dad. We argue like hell but I always admired his courage and honesty," Biden said, and added, "She and her father have character. Character dammit is what we need in this country!" the octogenarian said.
During her time in the Senate, Biden voted in support of then-president Bush's decision to declare war against Iraq; however, later, he had a change of mind and opposed the invasion.
The CEO of conservative online magazine The Federalist, Sean Davis, retorted to Biden's praise of the former VP. Davis quoted a statement from the president made during a 2012 vice presidential debate where he called his predecessor "the most dangerous vice president probably in American history."
"So, no: Joe Biden has not 'always admired' Dick Cheney," Davis asserted.

Kamala Harris' praise for Dick Cheney backfires online
Kamala Harris' praising Dick Cheney blew up in the VP's face as journalists pointed fingers at the former VP's role in the US-Iraq war. Netizens also slammed Harris over her newfound admiration for the once-prominent Republican.
Political commentator Mehdi Hasan wrote, "Dick Cheney not only committed war crimes and helped kill 100s of 1000s of Iraqis but he also caused the deaths of 1000s of American soldiers."
Meanwhile, journalist Glenn Greenwald claimed, "They should send Liz Cheney to Michigan to campaign for Kamala in Dearborn and Detroit. She can explain why she and her dad still support Guantanamo, CIA black sites, torture, rendition, drones and the war in Iraq. Ask Kamala what Dick Cheney 'has done to serve our country'?"

Podcaster Sean Padraig McCarthy weighed in on the remarks, saying, "If you were to pick a single most evil man in the 21st century it would be hard to beat Dick Cheney. People can do what they want but I’ll never vote for this."

"I’d love to hear a Bernie Bro explain how they can rationalize being on the same side as Dick Cheney, the very guy they spent years demonizing. How does it feel to suddenly align with the “war criminal” they once despised? The hypocrisy is astounding," one social media user wrote.
"Absolute absurdity," another remarked.
"Yeah, it’s hilarious seeing the flip flopping. How and why do democrats allow this stupidity," someone else chimed in.
"This is disgraceful," an individual said.
