WASHINGTON, DC: On Monday, July 29, Senator John Kennedy (R-La) stated that Americans perceive Vice President Kamala Harris as "a bit of a ding-dong", a remark that was challenged by Fox News host Neil Cavuto.

The 72-year-old Louisiana senator launched a series of verbal attacks against Harris on Fox News's 'Your World with Neil Cavuto', repeatedly citing polls that supposedly indicate the public sees the presumptive 2024 Democratic presidential nominee as "a bit of a ding-dong."

Cavuto opposed Kennedy's statements, questioning the value in the Bayou State senator and other Republicans calling the Vice President derogatory names, The Hill reported.

What did John Kennedy say about Vice President Kamala Harris?

“Margaret Thatcher didn’t giggle, Golda Meir didn’t giggle. When you look at the polls, fair or not, many Americans — and again, this may not be fair — but I’m showing you what the polls show. Many Americans think that the vice president is a little bit of a ding dong,” Kennedy asserted.

He did not mention which polls he was referring to. Kennedy added that these polls demonstrate the public's perception of her as someone who belongs to the Democratic Party's "loon wing" and that she is "not a serious person."

“And let me say it again, I think that fair or not, and it may upset you, but fair or not the American people think those who have an opinion of the vice president think that, number one, she’s a little bit of a ding-dong,” he remarked.

“She’s not a serious person. They’ve had one vegetable in chief. They don’t want another. And they also think that she is a member of the loon wing of the Democratic Party,” the Louisiana GOP senator added.

Throughout the conversation, host Neil Cavuto questioned the effectiveness of the Republican onslaught on Harris.

“I’m just wondering how you think that will resonate with women when she is called nasty and crazy and a ding-dong and disrespectful, between you and the president, what has been said about her. I’m just wondering, do you worry how that comes across?” Cavuto asked.

“And maybe you draw no distinction between a female candidate and male one, and that’s fair game, but that this could hurt you with female voters with these type of comments,” the Fox News host noted.

Kennedy replied that the gender of the vice president was of no concern to him.

However, Cavuto interrupted and asked why the senator would refer to her as a "ding-dong."

Kennedy then informed Cavuto that he was simply stating what the polling data indicated, and offered to discuss the polls with him.

“Please, please, please do because I never know when it’s constructive to call people names, you know, senator, just on the left or the right,” Cavuto told him.

Kennedy later mentioned that he was “trying to be objective here,” but Cavuto promptly pushed back on that statement.

“Are you really? Are you really being objective, senator? I just think you’ve got a bash-a-thon on name-calling at her. If you call that being objective, I don’t know,” Cavuto said.

Internet mocks John Kennedy for calling Kamala Harris 'a ding-dong' on live TV

Netizens lambasted Creole State Senator John Kennedy for appearing on Fox News's 'Your World with Neil Cavuto' on Monday and name-calling Vice President Kamala Harris.

One X user sarcastically remarked, "Yes they should really keep this up it’s working so well!"

Another wrote, "Name calling is the lowest form of argument and demonstrates a lack of any legitimate argument."

One person commented, "Kennedy calling anyone else a ding-dong is high comedy!!"

Another noted, "Every time he appears I like to remind people that Kennedy is from the suburbs of Baton Rouge, not the countryside, and his accent is completely phony. It dates to about 2007 when he switched from Democrat to Republican. Before that he sounded like a generic midwesterner."

One individual commented, "The @GOP should promptly send @SenJohnKennedy out on a public speaking tour and arrange an interview with every network for him. He truly represents their antiquated ideas and the old white man dominion of the Republican Party. Bless their hearts."

Another noted, "Even Cavuto can see this is not a winning strategy."

One person added, "Funny, when I put Kamala and Senator Kennedy in a side by side comparison, the "Ding-Dong" isn't Kamala."
