WASHINGTON, DC: A high-ranking Trump administration official tasked with defending mass government layoffs has been using her federal office as the backdrop for fashion influencer videos, a CNN report revealed.

McLaurine Pinover, head of communications for the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), posted over a dozen outfit-themed videos to her now-deleted Instagram account, @getdressedwithmc.

The account attracted nearly 800 followers and included hashtags such as #dcstyle and #dcinfluencer. Filmed inside her government office, the videos encouraged viewers to explore "affiliate links" for the outfits she showcased, enabling commission-based earnings from purchases.

In one post, set to Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s All The Stars, she captioned it, “A moment for mixed patterns.” In a different post, she captioned it, “The business woman special.”

That same day, as the OPM issued a memo instructing agencies to pinpoint obstacles to swiftly dismissing "poor performing employees," Pinover uploaded a video of herself in her office, blowing a kiss to the camera while showcasing a $475 purple skirt. She labeled it "work look" and included a link for viewers to purchase the outfit, as reported by People.

A former OPM staffer told CNN they were frustrated that Pinover, while defending aggressive workforce cuts, appeared to be using government resources for personal branding: “She’s the spokesperson for the agency that is advocating for the firing based on performance and efficiency of the rest of the government workforce, and she’s using government property as a backdrop for her videos.”

Pinover’s Instagram is linked to her profile on ShopMy, a platform where influencers earn commissions on fashion sales. Brands like Reformation and Quince use the site to pay users for referrals. However, after CNN’s report, she deleted her ShopMy page clean.

In a statement to PEOPLE regarding the CNN report, Pinover explained, “While I was battling breast cancer as a new mom, I felt so unlike myself. Shortly after, I turned to social media as a personal outlet.”

She clarified that she “never made any income" from the videos and never anticipated her small account gaining attention. "My focus remains on serving the American people at OPM."

The Trump administration’s aggressive push to downsize the federal workforce has resulted in the loss of 10,000 government jobs in February alone, according to new data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Trump staffer’s fashion clips amid DOGE job cuts ignite online debate

A Trump administration staffer is facing backlash online after sharing fashion-related video clips while simultaneously justifying job cuts within the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The move has sparked a mix of outrage, mockery, and debate over priorities and taxpayer spending.

Some users questioned whether the staffer was taking her job seriously. One wrote, “Hey, I think we just found some waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayers’ money.”

Another added, “What would have happened if a ‘DEI’ employee did this… and Elon Musk’s DOGE got wind of it? This is what nepotism looks like.”

Others mocked the scale of the controversy, with one user sarcastically remarking, “OMG! She posed in an office! This is MAJOR!”

Another joked, “Well, at least she did five things last week.”

One user wrote, “She’s doing a great job. At least she found the time to save taxpayers some money.”

However, one person pointed out, “She’s doing all that work to sell affiliate link clothing to her 800 followers. Seriously, 800.”
