The officials also targeted former president Donald Trump in their letter. "As president, he promoted daily chaos in government, praised our enemies and undermined our allies, politicized the military and disparaged our veterans, prioritized his personal interest above American interests and betrayed our values,” the officials said,  reported Daily Beast.

They added, “Donald Trump’s susceptibility to flattery and manipulation by Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, unusual affinity for other authoritarian leaders, contempt for the norms of decent, ethical and lawful behavior, and chaotic national security decision-making are dangerous qualities – as many honorable Republican colleagues and military officers who served in senior national security positions in his administration have frequently testified. He is unfit to serve again as President, or indeed in any office of public trust.”

Meanwhile, former officials revealed the reason for endorsing Harris. “Vice President Harris has demonstrated a commitment to upholding the ideals that define our nation — freedom, democracy, and rule of law. Her experience as Attorney General of California and her leadership on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and as Vice President have helped prepare her to be President," they said.

Among these officials, some prominent names comprise former defense secretaries William Cohen and Chuck Hagel and ex-CIA directors Michael Hayden and William Webster.

Internet reacts to ex-Republican officials supporting Kamala Harris

Netizens shared mixed reactions over new endorsement for Kamala Harris through an open letter. Harris is reported to be leading the polls ahead of the November elections.

A user commented on the open letter, "If I read this in a novel, I wouldn’t believe it! But this is real and the landslide has just begun…"

"The more that comes out and the more Republican endorsements for Kamala - they prove that Trump is wholly unfit," one netizen wrote.

Another expressed, "Many of these officials signed the letter claiming Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation when they all knew it was Hunter's laptop. No surprise ... birds of a feather. Interfering in elections is what they do."

"I am sure 51 were the same liars involved in the Russian Collusion HOAX run by the old W*TCH HILLARY," a person joined.

Another chimed on the social platform, "This is epic!! The traitors and neocons are flushing themselves out! Saves us a lot of work!!"
