Pakistan claims the US-Iran framework agreement reached to end the conflict
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN: Hours after President Donald Trump accused Iran of deceiving the US over the peace deal, Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, confirmed that both parties have reached a framework to end the war.
President Trump, on Friday, June 12, accused Tehran of spreading false information about a proposed agreement with Washington and condemned what he described as a drone attack targeting Indian ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
He ripped Iran for leaking fake news regarding the agreement to the media.

“Amid ongoing intense mediation efforts by Pakistan, we are fully aware of incessant misinformation campaign being waged by those who want to sabotage the peace deal,” the Pakistani official said.
Sharif also acknowledged conflicting reports about the details of a memorandum of understanding between the two sides.
The details of the deal, reportedly leaked by Iran to media outlets, claimed that Iran would financially benefit from the deal, igniting concerns from Republicans.
In a fiery statement, Trump rejected reports circulating in Iranian media, called Iranian officials “dishonorable,” and warned the regime to “get their act together” as questions mount over the future of negotiations.

Iran says deal ‘has never been closer’
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in a post earlier in the day that an agreement between the two sides “has never been closer.”
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content.

Pakistan has been mediating peace talks between Washington and Tehran to bring hostilities in the Middle East to an end and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The critical maritime energy transit is effectively closed from shortly after the joint attack by the US and Israel on Iran.
A round of high-level ceasefire negotiations between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Pakistan, was held in Islamabad on April 11 and April 12.
However, the meeting resulted in no breakthrough, leaving the direct talks stalled. The indirect talks between the sides have continued.
