Palm Beach International Airport to be renamed after Trump
The bill signed by Ron DeSantis clears the way for one of Florida’s busiest airports to carry Donald Trump’s name.
Once implemented, Palm Beach International Airport will officially become President Donald J Trump International Airport. The timeline for the transition has already been fixed, with July 1 marked as the date when the new name will come into force.
While the move is politically significant, the process itself is largely administrative at the federal level.
The Federal Aviation Administration clarified its role in such changes, noting that naming decisions are handled locally.
“Changing an airport name is a local issue and the FAA does not approve airport name changes,” the agency said in a statement on Monday.
However, the FAA added that it still has work to do behind the scenes. “The FAA must complete some administrative tasks to include updating navigational charts and databases,” the statement read.
Not only is Palm Beach International Airport now officially President Donald J. Trump International Airport thanks to the work of my amazing friend Rep. Meg Weinberger @megforflorida, but the 3 letter airport code is being changed from PBI to DJT!

Well deserved! Congratulations…
Trump Organization files trademark for proposed airport name
Even before the bill was signed into law, the Trump family business had already taken steps linked to the proposed name.
In February, the Trump Organization filed a trademark application for the name, according to records from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The filing covered a wide range of travel-related goods and services.
These included items like luggage, flight suits and even plastic shoe protectors used during airport security screening, suggesting a broad scope for branding tied to the airport name.
Despite the extensive filing, the company made it clear that the move was not about financial gain.
The Trump Organization said the application was directly prompted by the Florida bill but insisted there would be no monetary benefit.
“To be clear, the President and his family will not receive any royalty, licensing fee, or financial consideration whatsoever from the proposed airport renaming,” the company said in a statement issued in February.
