DAVENPORT, IOWA: A mother from Davenport is being accused of killing her young son. Grady Judd, the sheriff for Polk County, described the abuse 4-year-old Bryan Boyer allegedly suffered at the hands of his mother during a press conference on Wednesday, May 8.

Judd claimed Patricia Saintizaire, 36, who brought the 'unwanted' child with her when she immigrated from Haiti, beat and ignored him for a long time.

“He’s (Bryan Boyer) face down, on the floor, and she’s beating him on the back and he’s not even resisting it. It’s just like it’s a normal occurrence,” Sheriff Judd said.

Patricia Saintizaire refused to take Bryan Boyer to the hospital

Saintizaire was accused of tying his arms behind his back and tossing him into a swimming pool. “We have a video clip of where that four-year-old baby’s hands were tied behind his back and she threw him in a swimming pool,” said The Sheriff, according to WFLA.

Boyer's adopted 16-year-old brother discovered the 4-year-old was motionless on May 1 and realized something wasn't right.

Judd claimed Saintizaire dismissed his request for his mother to take the youngster to the hospital, claiming the child was "just being dramatic."

Later, Boyer was taken to the Haines City hospital where he was declared dead. PCSO claims that "layers of bruises and injuries" from prior beatings were found in the medical examiner's report, indicating long-term abuse.

“He’s in the arms of God right now,” Judd said. “He’s no longer being beaten, no longer being punched, no longer being tied up and thrown into a pool.”

Patricia Saintizaire faces sevral charges

According to Judd, investigators found footage of the incident in the pool as well as another that purportedly showed Bryan face-down being beaten on the back by his mother.

He was just lying there, Judd said, "taking it like it was a normal occurrence."

Saintizaire was accused of aggravated child abuse, first-degree murder, and witness tampering. She was scheduled to make her court appearance on Wednesday, but she could not do so.

She will now make her public debut at 1:00 pm on May 9, Thursday. The 16-year-old is in protective custody; his father was at work when the incident occurred. The inquiry is still underway.

The 4-year-old boy attended Davenport's Loughman Oaks Elementary School.

“Our hearts are broken at the suffering little Bryan endured. Please keep his grieving family members, his schoolmates and the staff at Loughman Elementary, and especially his older brother, in your prayers,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
