TULSA, OKLAHOMA: An Oklahoma man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the brutal torture of a mother after being sentenced to three consecutive life sentences on November 27.

Patrick D Medlin, 48, was convicted on 10 felony charges related to the kidnapping and violent assault of a woman in Skiatook in April 2020. The horrific details of the case shocked the local community, according to Law&Crime.

According to court records and evidence presented at trial, Medlin subjected the unidentified woman to hours of disturbing physical and sexual abuse. He kidnapped the mother and zip-tied her in a home, where prosecutors say he proceeded to rape, beat, and maim her using objects like a baseball bat, pliers, and a hammer.

The woman was later found by Skiatook police responding to a 911 call about the assault. She suffered severe and disfiguring injuries over her entire body as a result of Medlin's attack and required emergency hospital treatment. Her 13-year-old son was also present at the home for part of the incident.

News of Medlin's sadistic actions has been met with revulsion from residents. Neighbors never suspected him of being capable of such violence. Prosecutors and court observers described the evidence presented at trial as profoundly upsetting for all involved.

“This was a heinous crime that caused unimaginable mental and physical pain on the victim,” said Assistant District Attorney Leyna Churchill. “We are grateful the jury held Mr Medlin accountable for the atrocities he committed.”

While originally arrested for the assault in 2020, Medlin did not stand trial until over three years later due to pandemic court closures. After a month-long September trial, a Tulsa jury found him guilty on nearly all charges, including rape, assault, and kidnapping.

Tulsa judge ordered maximum possible punishment for Patrick Medlin

“Sexual assault cases are often challenging and come with unique hurdles,” explained Assistant DA Ashley Nix. “We hope the justice brought in this case helps the victim heal as she moves forward with her life.”

On Monday, November 27, Judge Michelle L Keely ordered the maximum possible punishment based on the jury's recommendation - three consecutive life sentences for rape and maiming, plus over 100 additional years behind bars for other counts like sexual battery and child neglect.

Medlin also faces fines nearing $30,000. He will not be eligible for parole and will remain incarcerated for the remainder of his natural life.
