WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump's former White House adviser Peter Navarro expressed concerns on Monday, August 12, suggesting that the former president should shift his focus from personal attacks to highlighting policy differences between himself and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Navarro’s comments come as Trump’s approach to rallying support is being questioned, especially in battleground states.

Peter Navarro, who was recently released from federal prison after serving a four-month sentence for refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena related to the January 6 attack on the Capitol, filled in for Steve Bannon on the 'War Room' podcast.

During this appearance, he urged Trump to prioritize discussing the stark policy differences between him and Harris, which could sway voters in key battleground states.

Navarro voiced his concerns, stating that Trump’s current strategy of personal attacks against Harris might backfire.

“He needs votes, and the current rally formula is simply not sufficiently focused on the very stark policy differences — policy differences — between him and Kamala Harris that will swing voters in key battleground states,” Navarro said while substituting for Steve Bannon on his podcast, according to The Hill. 

He further warned that these personal attacks could inadvertently boost Harris’ support, particularly among swing voters and women.

“Instead, when Trump attacks Harris personally rather than on policy, Harris’s support among swing voters rises, particularly among women. It’s just a fact of life, right now,” Navarro added.

Poll shows Kamala Harris gaining ground against Donald Trump among young voters

Peter Navarro’s remarks came on the same day a new poll by SocialSphere survey, released by Democratic super PAC Won’t Pac Down, showed Vice President Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump by nine points among young voters.

The poll revealed that Harris garnered 51 percent support from registered voters aged 18-29 in battleground states, compared to Trump’s 42 percent support in a two-way race. Additionally, seven percent of respondents were undecided.

The poll also highlighted a significant shift in voter sentiment as Harris had gained a 13-point lead since the last poll in early July when Trump led this demographic 48 percent to 44 percent.

Since Harris replaced Biden atop the Democratic presidential ticket in late July, she has solidified the party’s base and witnessed a surge in the polls against Trump.

Her rallies have attracted large crowds and Trump’s attacks on her, including the alleged manipulation of pictures using AI, have only bolstered her support.

Internet asks Peter Navarro to tell Donald Trump to 'stand down'

The shift in the polls and Peter Navarro’s advice to Donald Trump sparked reactions online, with many users expressing their thoughts on social media.

One user on X wrote, "Peter Navarro and Trump deserve each other. They’re both born liars and they’re both convicted."

Another user commented, "Because something is wrong with him," reflecting a sentiment shared by others.

One more user criticized Trump’s ability to focus, stating, "Not sufficiently focused! Are you kidding us all, Peter? Trump is mentally incapable of focus. Get real with your comments. Why don't you call for him to stand down? He's an old man wearing incontinent pads with clearly mental deficiencies getting worse by the day! End of story," they suggested.

The online reactions continued with another person adding, "He's demented, can't focus on anything," highlighting the growing frustration among some of Trump’s critics.
