Piers Morgan calls Trump’s Iran threat a ‘pre-admission of genocide’
WASHINGTON, DC: British broadcaster Piers Morgan condemned Donald Trump’s latest warning to Iran, describing it as a “brazen pre-admission of genocide.”
“This is a brazen pre-admission of genocide against the Iranian people, which would obviously be a war crime. Madness,” Morgan said, reacting to Trump’s remarks.
Trump issues stark warning to Iran
In a Truth Social post, Trump warned: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”
He added that a “complete and total regime change” could usher in “different, smarter, and less radicalized minds,” suggesting a dramatic turning point in Iran’s future.
Trump described the situation as “one of the most important moments” in global history, claiming that decades of “extortion, corruption, and death” would finally end.
The comments mark one of his most extreme public statements on Iran since tensions escalated.
Trump’s earlier threats target infrastructure
The latest warning follows earlier remarks by Trump on Easter Sunday, when he threatened sweeping strikes on Iranian civilian infrastructure.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day… there will be nothing like it,” he said, warning of catastrophic consequences if demands were not met.
Former US Army General Wesley Clark cautioned that targeting civilian infrastructure to pressure governments constitutes a war crime under international law.
Experts say such rhetoric raises alarm over the potential humanitarian and legal implications of any future military action.
