WASHINGTON, DC: Matt Gaetz’s recent debut on MAGA TV has come under the spotlight - for all the wrong reasons.

As the 42-year-old former Congressman debuted on conservative-leaning One America News Network on January 3 with his talk show 'The Matt Gaetz Show', it was his new look that grabbed attention, giving rise to speculations ranging from Botox to bad makeup.

While his first appearance in the public domain after he withdrew from the attorney general position and quit Congress in late November did make a buzz for political reasons, his countenance and speculations of plastic surgery eclipsed all, as reported by The Sun.

Three plastic surgeons recently spoke to Daily Mail, weighing in on the matter while throwing light on what might have gone behind Gaetz's "Cruella de Vil eyebrows" or his "Spock appearance".

Plastic surgeons weigh in on Matt Gaetz’s looks

The aestheticians suggested that Matt Gaetz’s recent appearance shows signs of heavy Botox use, combined with the usage of fillers.

One of the plastic surgeons, Dr Christopher Costa from Las Vegas, said, “What it does look like to me is that he has been almost over-treated with neurotoxins, things like Botox.”

“With your standard neurotoxin treatment, your goal is to soften the lines but still have facial expression and still be able to move the face,” shared the doctor, before adding, “But in his case, it looks almost like he has been double-dosed, like these patients that come in and say, 'I want you to freeze my face'.”

He even added that Gaetz might have received the injections into his forehead, the area around his eyes, and even his upper lip, creating a "lip flip".

Another plastic surgeon from California, Dr Michael Persky, suggested that Gaetz might have had skin smoothening treatment, including laser and chemical peels.

Sounding unimpressed, Dr Persky said, “Matt Gaetz's aesthetic providers have violated my four-word philosophy of beauty, 'no one should know'.”

He continued, “Rep Gaetz has received too much Botox in his forehead which has resulted in nearly no movement, a flat and unnatural forehead, and the dreaded... arched eyebrows.”

He continued to describe the overly animated eyebrows, saying, “This is commonly referred to as the 'El Diablo brow', the 'Cruella De Vil brow'.”

Cruella de Vil, one of Disney's most evil fictional characters, is described as having high-arched and prominent eyebrows.

Dr Paul Rosenberg, another plastic surgeon from New Jersey, even compared his face to Spock, saying, “He has had Botox... and, quite honestly, injected not in the most professional way, because he manifests what we call the 'Spock appearance'.”

“So when he raises his eyebrows to look animated... everything is frozen except the center of the brow, which causes his brows to go up artificially,” he added, referencing the fictional character from ‘Star Trek’, who has a pair of distinct eyebrows with pulled appearance.

This is, however, not the first time that Gaetz has sparked speculations of plastic surgery. He had sparked similar rumors after appearing at the Republican National Convention in July last year.

Appearing on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ at that time, guest host Anthony Anderson poked fun at the ex-Congressman, saying, "Now, if you’re not familiar with Matt Gaetz — this is what he usually looks like.”

He continued, saying, “And this is what he looked like last night,” as a photo from Gaetz's RNC appearance was shown on screen.

Anderson further added, “Woah! I mean, he looks like he’s trying to be an NBA player’s third wife.”

Matt Gaetz's appearance on talk show debut sparks speculations

Matt Gaetz's appearance as his talk show debuted on One America News Network sparked speculations among social media users who were left divided over what had gone wrong - his makeup or his alleged Botox.

As County commissioner Chris D Jackson wrote, "Matt Gaetz is on television now with some fresh botox it seems," people flocked to the comment section to share their views.

One user said, "I think it is too much makeup under his eyes."

"Somebody needs to have a serious talk with him," said someone else.

Another user noted, "So is he permanently going to look like he’s surprised about something??"

"More of a change than just botox," speculated another user.

Someone else noted, "He’s looking more like Wayne Newton every day."

""Fresh on botox"? more OVER USE OF IT! eewww...is he trying to replace Ken for Barbie now?" chimed in another.

Someone else noted, "Who did his makeup 💄 they don’t like him."
