LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a throwback moment, Seth Meyers has shared a post on X/Twitter reminiscing about the time he urged for the immediate removal of Donald Trump from office following the violent events at the US Capitol, where his supporters orchestrated a siege that led to four deaths.
The recent post caption read, "For my money, this is still the finest piece of writing @salgentile did for our show. Every word still rings true three years later."

Meyers quipped on Trump being 'immediately removed from office'
In a serious and straightforward monologue of the January 7, 2021 episode, Meyers provided an honest assessment of the situation in Washington DC, emphasizing that the former president played a role in inciting, directing, and encouraging the disturbing events as his presidency concludes.
“What we saw today was a violent insurgency and attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected government of the United States,” Meyers expressed to his viewers.
“As we were all watching these stunning scenes of violence, and sedition, and insurrection against our democracy, anxiously hoping for a restoration of calm and order, the president of the United States told the traitors and the mob, ‘We love you, you’re very special, I know how you feel"', he added.
Meyers passionately urged lawmakers to take prompt action in removing Trump from office, despite the limited 13 days left in his presidency.
He emphasized the critical need for swift measures, stating, "The only way our democracy is going to survive this harrowing moment is if he’s immediately removed from office by either the cabinet or the Congress and prosecuted."
He continued, "Anything less is tacit permission to continue to use his office, and his influence after he leaves office, to foment sedition and dismantle democracy.”

Meyers didn't mince words, extending his call for accountability to Trump's Republican supporters, asserting that they too should face consequences in the aftermath of a day marked by violence.
He emphasized the fragility and precious nature of a multi-racial, saying, "Multi-racial, pluralistic democracy is fragile and precious, and it requires our vigilant stewardship and protection. Anyone not willing to forward that project, with the fullness of their effort, must be shamed and disgraced and removed from office. And that must start immediately with Donald Trump."
Netizens drew in their support for Meyers' old clip saying, "Thank you for this. One of the clearest descriptions of the events of 1/6 I have heard. You laid it all out quite clearly. Democracy will prevail."

"Outstanding, powerful stuff. The fact that that prescription wasn't carried out just shows how entrenched the stain of the Sedition Caucus is. Which means we have to be dedicated in our efforts to remove that stain."

"I think this is a speech that should be re-released every year from now on. Wonderful work by @salgentile and very well presented by you."

Meyers also raised a pointed question for the Republicans in Congress who objected to election results in their states: "If the election was fraudulent, how come your election wasn't fraudulent? Why did you assume your seat if you can't trust the results from your own state? It's the same ballot, literally the same piece of paper."
In a humorous analogy, he likened them to diners complaining about undercooked chicken but insisting on more of the same. Meyers emphasized that this inconsistency exposes the obvious flaws in their arguments, describing them as "obvious bullshit."
