Prince William and Kate Middleton trigger speculation about 'moving into America' with US patent request
LONDON, UK: Kate Middleton and Prince William have reportedly filed a request again for US trademarks for their Royal Foundation, suggesting that they might start a charity across the pond in the future.
The appeal to the US Patent and Trademark Office reportedly mentions "healthcare services relating to mental health".
Also, as per royal commentator Richard Palmer, “Given the speculation that the Princess might never return to full-time work, this is a positive sign that she and William have hopes of expanding The Royal Foundation in the US,” Tatler reports.
Expert says Kate and William are ‘looking to the future’
However, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has suggested that the move does not necessarily mean the pair is planning any big moves in the States.
She told OK! “I don’t think we should read too much into this, as it has been suggested this is more a case of housekeeping – probably keeping the application within its legal time limits or something similar.”
“There doesn’t seem to be any imminent move to launch an American initiative,” she stated.
Bond also noted, “But the very fact that they want to keep the application viable does suggest that looking to the future, there may be new plans afoot,” before saying, “And that of course is positive. I certainly wouldn’t want to put any kind of spin on the interest in moving into America.”
Asserting the future King and Queen’s popularity on the other side of the ocean, the expert added, “But William and Catherine are clearly very popular in the United States.
"I’ve no doubt that if the Foundation can help with the many issues surrounding mental health worldwide, then that support would be welcomed… and would carry with it a good deal of heft because of William and Catherine.”
This came after some positive news came from the royal family side after King Charles and the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
Kate Middleton says cancer diagnosis gave her time to ‘reflect and be grateful for the simple’ things
Kate Middleton via a video share revealed that she “completed my chemotherapy treatment.”
She also mentioned, “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

“The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” the mother-of-three noted, before adding, “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted.”
Besides, Kate also did her first public outing after the chemotherapy ending announcement as she attended the matinee performance of Giselle by the English National Ballet at Sadler Wells Theatre.
