LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A Los Angeles woman, who led the California Highway Patrol in a high-speed chase and subsequently drove her luxury vehicle into the ocean beside the Venice Beach pier, has been rescued from the Pacific Ocean.

The two dogs who were abandoned in the backseat of her car as she drove into the waves have also been rescued.

Suspect drove her car across the sand and into the Pacific Ocean

On March 17, California Highway Patrol officers attempted to pull over a speeding car on the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, as per dailymail.com.

Officer Erik Larson of the California Highway Patrol stated that the pursuit commenced at 11.21 pm on Saturday in El Monte.

The chase concluded at 12.03 am in Venice when the woman in her twenties drove her vehicle across the sand and into the Pacific Ocean.

According to reports from Dailymail, lifeguards rescued the Boston Terriers shortly after midnight on Sunday, after the woman swam away from her waterlogged BMW X3 into the Pacific Ocean.

After swimming with remarkable skill away from the submerged car towards the fishing pier on Venice Beach, California, she was pulled from the tumultuous waves.

While some onlookers on the pier attempted to help the woman by shouting at her, others were less supportive upon learning that she had left her dogs in the car.

Dramatic video footage captured the moment when two lifeguards approached the submerged vehicle with flashlights, attempting to search for any other occupants. With waves crashing against the car, one lifeguard peered inside and signaled to the other, indicating the presence of someone in the vehicle.

Subsequently, the lifeguard opened the backseat door amid the pounding waves, retrieving a small dog, a Boston Terrier. Another Boston Terrier managed to escape from the vehicle while it was still in motion, tumbling onto the sand.

Onlooker describes the scene as out of an 'action movie'

A tourist from England named Sara Jane described the scene as reminiscent of an action movie, witnessing the car careening across the sand and plunging into the water. She expressed surprise at the woman's rescue.

Jane remarked, "It was cold, dark, and the waves were choppy. I really don't know how she managed to survive, let alone swim such a long distance."

Josh Sullivan, who was walking his dog at the time of the incident, recounted seeing a dog nervously wandering on the sand until someone picked it up and attempted to soothe it.

The California Highway Patrol withheld the woman's identity, stating that it would be disclosed on Monday morning.

How did the internet react?

The incident has evoked numerous reactions from individuals on the internet.

One claimed, “"Those poor dogs, if they are safe don't give them back to her. She is irresponsible.”

Another user commented, “It's not "mild misbehavior" there or anywhere else. It's psychotic behavior.”

“The Mental health crisis in California is disgusting. The dogs didnt deserve to drown either,” a user stated.

One user commented, “They were innocent in this. They just drew bad luck getting her as their owner. She was driving triple digits down the fwy and was intoxicated. Dont feel an ounce of remorse for her. The dogs? Yep, I don't care about her, she better not get those poor puppies back.”
