JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI: On Thursday, March 14, a former police officer from Mississippi pleaded guilty to compelling a detainee, who was being processed in jail, to lick urine from the floor of his cell, as per The Guardian.

26-year-old Michael Christian Green resigned from the Pearl Police Department in December of last year, just a few days after security cameras captured him compelling the man to lick urine.

What did Michael Green do?

According to a criminal information filed earlier this month, Green, a patrolman with the Pearl Police Department, was accused of compelling a man, who was being booked in jail during an arrest in December, to lick urine from the cell floor.

Last year on December 23rd, following an altercation at a Sam's Club, the man knocked on the door of a holding cell while being booked and claimed he needed to use the bathroom.

According to the affidavit, after some time had passed, the male individual urinated in a corner. Prosecutors alleged, as reported by NBC, that Green instructed him to "lick it up" and threatened to beat him with a phone.

The document states that Green stood in a doorway while the man, who gagged and later vomited in a trash can, complied. Prosecutors allege that Green recorded the entire incident on his cellphone.

Green was charged by criminal information on March 4, but the case was unsealed on Wednesday, March 13th.

According to city officials, Green was relieved of his duties, and he resigned on December 27. Mayor Jake Windham referred to Green's behavior as "just despicable" during a statement on Thursday, March 14th.

He emphasized, "If you’re going to be a police officer, you’ve got to do things right and you’ve got to operate within the constitution of the United States. And I feel very strongly about that."

Windham added, “And I apologize to the family of this gentleman that was exposed to just the type of negligent and horrible-type treatment from an officer of the law."

Green had been with the police department for approximately six months, the mayor said.

"I can't make rhyme or reason of it. I don't understand," Windham, who is a former law enforcement officer in Pearl and the state attorney general's office, said. "I don't understand how you treat someone like that."

Internet labels the incident as 'soulless'

Ever since the act by Green garnered attention on social media platforms, netizens slamed the ex police officer for his behavior.

A Facebook user wrote, "This is why police get a bad reputation."

A user wrote, "He probably should have never had a badge to begin with, it's hard to find good help these day's. Makes it harder on the good cops out there."

Another user said, "He should be sent to prison for treating someone that way."

The next user said, "He needs to get that same treatment while he's there!" A user said, "He start his new job Monday."

One user labeled him as "sick and wicked."

A user even wrote, "I wonder how he Forced the man to do that. Must have held a gun on him. He should be forced to drink a bottle of his own!"

Another user called him "pure evil."
