Rachel Berg: Arizona teen charged in park ranger's death in high-speed crash between Corvette and Harley

MESA, ARIZONA: An Arizona teenager, Rachel Berg, is facing charges following a devastating incident where her Chevrolet Corvette supercar collided with park ranger Michael Clark, resulting in his tragic death.
The fatal crash occurred on March 12 as Clark was riding his Harley Davidson motorbike along US 60 in Mesa, Arizona.

Berg, 18, was arrested on Monday after investigations revealed that she had been driving her 2024 Corvette, which cost between $70,000 and $140,000, at speeds exceeding 155mph before slamming on the brakes seconds before crashing into Clark.
Police reports indicate that the teen suspect struck the victims motorcycle at approximately 87mph, despite her attempted CPR efforts following the collision, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the aftermath of the incident, Laura Clark, the heartbroken widow of Clark, shared a poignant tribute to her late husband, emphasizing his love for his family and his dedication to service.
Michael, a former Tacoma cop, had left the force in 2020 to travel with his wife before settling in Mesa, Arizona, where he served as a Tempe park ranger.

The tragic loss has left Laura and her family devastated, grappling with the profound impact of Michael's absence.
She said, "He loved being a father. He loved being a father to his kids and he was an amazing husband," reported AZ Family.
Berg now faces charges of reckless manslaughter in connection with the fatal crash.
"I think that young people sometimes think that they’re invincible. And don’t think their decisions through and it’s devastating. Families are torn apart," said Laura.
"He has kids that now don’t have a dad. The devastation is real and I don’t know how we will ever recover from it. I don’t know how we ever put one foot in front of the other again," she added.
