NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: MSNBC's Rachel Maddow joined hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin to discuss former president Donald Trump and issues surrounding the upcoming election, on the Tuesday, June 18, 2014, episode of 'The View'.

Sharing her concerns about a potential second Trump presidency, Maddow claimed that the presumptive GOP nominee was "running against democracy" itself and launched into an explanation of the conservative policy proposals known as "Project 2025".

Rachel Maddow's remarks on Donald Trump and US elections

"When Donald Trump won the election in 2016 fair and square, he said it was rigged. He won the Republican primaries, he said they were rigged. He ran for reelection in 2020, before the election he said it was rigged. Then when he lost the election, he said it was rigged. He does not like elections," Rachel Maddow stated during the Hot Topics segment.

"He does not like voting as a system by which we decide who is going to be the President. When he was running for reelection in 2020, the Republican Party decided they were no longer going to have a platform," she continued. "They abolished their platform and said our new platform is whatever Donald Trump wants- we are for that."

"So if you don't stand for anything other than what he wants, you don't vote- you just put him in power, and once he is there, nobody is allowed to disagree with him, or say anything that he doesn't believe... That is what a lot of other countries all around the world have, and it is not democracy," she added.

"So, he's trying to get rid of the American system of government and that means getting rid of a government that does anything other than serve him. And that's what 'Project 2025' is all about. And that exists everywhere in the world, and it has never existed here before," claimed Maddow.

"I really think the bottom line here is that Trump and his movement, they are not running against Democrats, they're running against democracy. They are running against the Democratic process. They want to radically change the kind of system that we have, the government that we have. And we are alive as American citizens in that time and we are going to be the ones who decide if the American system of government survives or if it is taken over instead by a strongman authoritarian form," she added.

MAGA supporters slam Rachel Maddow's remarks on second Trump term

MAGA supporters took to social media to brutally slam Rachel Maddow over her remarks on the second term of Donald Trump. "You’re a liar and a fear monger. Shame on you," a social media user said X (formerly Twitter).

"When your Hatred for one man is greater than your Love for Our Country, you might be part of the Problem," wrote another.

"Not so fast @Maddow! Trump is running on a platform to protect American values and make our country great again. Those who oppose him are the ones undermining democracy. #MAGA" stated one individual.

"Rachel Maddow's fear-mongering about 'Project 2025' is ridiculous! Trump and his supporters are fighting for America, not against democracy. The real threat comes from the left's attempts to undermine our institutions. #MAGA" commented another.

"You Gal's are Nuts!" wrote one person.
