NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: MSNBC host Rachel Maddow linked Luigi Mangione, charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, with President-elect Donald Trump's upcoming administration.

Maddow drew a connection between Mangione's support for 'Unabomber' Theodore Kaczynski and similar statements made by Blake Masters, who is reportedly in consideration to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), according to Newsweek.

Rachel Maddow links Luigi Mangione to Donald Trump

Luigi Mangione earlier wrote a positive review of the book 'Industrial Society and Its Future' by Theodore Kaczynski, who killed three people and injured more than 20 others in bombings across the US in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

He wrote on book review site Goodreads, "It's easy to quickly and thoughtless write this off as the manifesto of a lunatic, in order to avoid facing some of the uncomfortable problems it identifies. But it's simply impossible to ignore how prescient many of his predictions about modern society turned out."

Notably, Masters, who ran for the Senate in Arizona in 2022, called Kaczynski a "subversive thinker," during a podcast interview for that election. Maddow highlighted these similarities on Tuesday, December 10 on a segment of 'The Rachel Maddow Show', that was repeated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by independent journalist Ken Klippenstein.

Maddow said, "The fact that he's a professed Unabomber fan is unsettling. I might venture it's even more unsettling that Donald Trump's reported choice to run the ATF is also a self-professed fan of the Unabomber."

Theodore Kaczynski Mangione detained on weapons and forgery charges

Luigi Mangione was arrested on Monday, December 9, after being identified at a McDonald's restaurant in Pennsylvania, and was detained on weapons and forgery charges.

Notably, Manhattan lawyers filed murder charges against him just hours later, as per the outlet. He remains in custody in Pennsylvania and is expected to be extradited to New York.

Moreover, a handwritten manifesto was found on him that warned, "These parasites had it coming." The full copy of the two-page document has not yet been made public.

Mangione's family said in a statement, "Unfortunately, we cannot comment on news reports regarding Luigi Mangione. We only know what we have read in the media. Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi's arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved. We are devastated by this news."

Internet slams Rachel Maddow for linking Luigi Mangione to Donald Trump

Many internet users slammed Rachel Maddow as she inked Luigi Mangione with President-elect Donald Trump's upcoming administration.

A user wrote on X, "I often forget people like Rachel Maddow exist, but when I am reminded, I legitimately cannot believe that people actually watch her and take her seriously," while one added, "Oh I see, the establishment and their media are trying again to gaslight us into the left/right division narrative. They just can’t stand seeing the working class united."

A person stated, "She gets paid to say such stupid things, and she gets paid a lot! That's the big problem!" Whereas one mentioned, "She said to the 3 people that still watch her show."

A user also wrote, "This is the Maddowest thing ever Maddowed," while one commented, "Rachel Maddow is in constant search for relevance."
