WASHINGTON, DC: In June, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow confidently told 'The View' hosts that Democrats wouldn't need a backup plan for Joe Biden

At the time, she asserted that "the backup plan is to run a better campaign” and that there was "no reason" to have a backup candidate.

However, when Maddow returned to the ABC talk show on Tuesday, September 10, the panel served her a "humble pie" as the president unexpectedly withdrew from the race in late July, endorsing Kamala Harris as his successor.

Before Rachel Maddow joined the panel, 'The View' replayed the clip from their previous conversation, following which the hosts introduced her with a laugh, setting the stage for some light-hearted ribbing.

"A little humble pie, anyone?" joked the MSNBC host as she took her seat at the table.

"I hate to start with dunking, you’re so rarely wrong in political forecasts!" acknowledged 'The View' co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin

Maddow embraced the situation, arguing that it serves as a valuable lesson in maintaining skepticism.

She went on to say, "So, A) humble pie. B) I feel like the universe feeds us things like this back just to keep us, keep our egos in check a little bit. This is a good reminder, don’t believe anything anybody says, right?"

Rachel Maddow went on to admit that she was caught entirely off guard by Joe Biden's decision to drop out but noted that it "shows you the power of a debate." She was possibly hinting at the president's disastrous performance in the CNN debate against Donald Trump

The liberal political commentator noted, "I mean, we've never had a debate as consequential in American history as that last debate. In five minutes in that debate, his presidency became a one-term presidency. The Democrats changed their candidate. It was a month before the conventions, and it's an all-new general election."

Maddow added that she’s prepared for any potential outcome in the ABC News debate between Harris and Trump.

She remarked, "I mean, which makes me feel humble and worried about what's going to happen today. Yes. Yes. I mean, anything could happen. I'm braced for anything from zero to a million."
