SARASOTA, FLORIDA: Christian Ziegler, the chairman of the Florida Republican Party, is facing a criminal investigation following a sexual battery complaint lodged with the Sarasota Police Department.

The accuser, involved in a purported "three-year consensual three-way sexual relationship" with Christian and his wife, Bridget Ziegler, co-founder of the parents' rights group Moms for Liberty, has brought the allegations to light, as reported by the Florida Trident.

The alleged sexual battery incident occurred on October 2 at the victim's Sarasota home and a heavily redacted police complaint, which was obtained by the Florida Trident, was submitted on October 4.

However, the words "rape" and "sexual battery" remained unredacted, according to the outlet.

“We acknowledge the reports that there is an investigation being conducted by the Sarasota Police Department regarding Mr. Ziegler,” Derek Byrd, an attorney for Ziegler, told The New York Post in a statement.

“Mr. Ziegler has been fully cooperative with every request made by the Sarasota Police Department. We are confident that once the police investigation is concluded that no charges will be filed and Mr. Ziegler will be completely exonerated,” Byrd added

Christian's attorney proposed that the allegations were untrue and might have been fabricated for "political motives or financial advantage."

According to the outlet, the woman purportedly said that she and the Zieglers had a longtime, consenting, three-way sexual relationship previous to the incident.

The report stated that the alleged assault took place while Bridget was away from her home.

No criminal charges have been brought in the case, and Christian's lawyer has refuted the allegations, claiming that the chairman would be "completely exonerated" if the charges were proven.

The reported incident, currently being investigated by Sarasota police, allegedly occurred on October 2 when Christian and the unnamed accuser were alone in her residence, as detailed by the Trident.

Based on sources as per the outlet, a search warrant was executed on Christian's cell phone and officials are conducting an in-depth forensic examination of the device in question.

The Florida GOP chairman is also alleged to have secretly videotaped the sexual encounters between the couple and the woman.

The Zieglers’ rise to prominence

In February, Christian Ziegler was elected as the Chairman of the Republican Party in Florida.

Prior to his new role, he served as the Vice Chairman of the party and was a Sarasota County Commissioner.

Bridget Ziegler, on the other hand, is a rising star in the conservative movement, and her school board seat received an endorsement from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is also a presidential candidate for 2024.

Bridget Ziegler is known for co-founding the group ‘Moms for Liberty,’ which gained nationwide recognition following the Covid-19 school policies that allegedly impeded children's development.

She played an essential role in establishing the framework for DeSantis' Parental Rights in Education Bill, which was dubbed in the media as the 'Don't Say Gay' law, as per Daily Mail.

Governor DeSantis has openly commended Bridget Ziegler's efforts in his addresses about education in his speeches.

“Bridget Ziegler, we should have her in every county in Florida. We have to do a better job in these school board races,” the Florida governor was once quoted saying, according to the Trident.

Bridget is currently employed at the Leadership Institute, a conservative organization focused on conducting seminars and creating a curriculum to educate the upcoming generation of conservative leaders.

‘Moms for Liberty’ came to Bridget’s defense in a now-deleted tweet on X, “Yet another attempt today to ruin the reputation of a strong woman fighting for America,” as per Daily Mail.

The Republican Party of Sarasota County, where the couple and their young family live, issued a statement expressing “shock” and “disappointment” at the reports, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune,

“The Republican Party takes all such allegations of potential criminal conduct very seriously and will fully cooperate with investigators,” the statement read.
