DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Longtime Democrat Rep Marcy Kaptur engaged in a testy exchange with a man who pressed her on whether President Joe Biden should exit the campaign after the debate debacle, reported Fox News.

The altercation took place at Detroit airport and was captured on video by the man who bombarded the 78-year-old lawmaker with questions that led her to lose patience and snatch his phone.

"Excuse me, congresswoman, should Joe Biden step down?" the man asked the Ohio Democrat, who walked onto the escalator, ignoring the question.

"Why has the White House been lying about Joe Biden's cognitive abilities?" the man asked again after Kaptur remained silent.

While adjusting her baggage, Kaptur stared into the camera before seizing the phone as the video abruptly ended.

A follow-up video showed that the man continued to follow the congresswoman, asking why she snatched his phone.

Kaptur looked directly into the camera and asked for the man's name and his place of living.

"Why are you asking me all these personal questions, congresswoman?" the man questioned back, to which Kaptur said, "Because you're asking me questions."

She continued to ask him which town he was from. However, the man refused to disclose any personal information, which apparently irked the Democrat.

"I just want to know, congresswoman, should Joe Biden step down?" the man repeated the question. "No," Kaptur said.

The heated exchange continued as the congresswoman asked why the man was reading the questions from a sheet and who owned him. Though the man responded that he was "curious" and nobody owned him, Kaptur retorted, "They own you."

"It's one thing to ask a question but an unknown man refusing to identify himself, forcing a camera in the Congresswoman's personal space is another thing entirely," the Ohio lawmaker's campaign spokesperson Alexandra Wilcox said in a statement later, adding that the man's identity and the organization he represents were still unknown.

President Biden's poor debate performance led to calls for him to step down from the 2024 race, with many Democrats, including former President Barack Obama, acknowledging that the June 27 debate with Donald Trump was a "bad night" for Biden.
