RFK Jr had to repeatedly block Olivia Nuzzi due to her 'obsessive' romantic pursuit, claims source
WASHINGTON, DC: A startling new claim suggests that New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi became "obsessed" with Robert F Kennedy Jr after interviewing him in California.
According to a source close to the former presidential candidate's team, the situation escalated to such an extent that he had to repeatedly block the journalist from contacting him, as per The New York Post.
Olivia Nuzzi reportedly went to extreme lengths to pursue Robert F Kennedy Jr
Olivia Nuzzi, 31, is best known for her political reporting, but this time it's her alleged romantic fixation on Robert F Kennedy Jr, 70, that has landed her in the headlines.
According to an insider, her interactions with the Kennedy family scion intensified following a November interview for a feature piece on his presidential campaign.
"She went after him aggressively. She targeted him pretty hard. Bobby was blocking her continually. It was a little scary. She was obsessed with him. I think she still is," said the source.
The claim paints a picture of a one-sided infatuation, with RFK Jr actively trying to distance himself from Nuzzi’s advances.
However, Nuzzi's team quickly denied the portrayal of her as the aggressor in the situation. Although they acknowledged the tension between the two, they insisted that both parties shared responsibility for the digital back-and-forth.
"It's absolutely untrue that she was the aggressor, but both parties were aware of how high pressure and high risk the circumstances were, and for that reason, their communication was very on and off," explained a source close to the Washington correspondent.
While the relationship was reportedly limited to text messages and never became physical, it allegedly included risque photos from Nuzzi.
Rober F Kennedy Jr's friend claims it isn't uncommon for women to throw themselves at him
The nature of their exchanges left room for misinterpretation, but Olivia Nuzzi’s supporters pushed back on the notion that she was at fault, describing the interaction as nothing more than a "flirtation."
"Olivia’s point of view is that to call this a relationship or affair is completely inaccurate. It was at most a flirtation," noted an insider.
The alleged digital interaction between Nuzzi and RFK Jr reportedly began after their in-person meeting for the interview.
Despite only meeting once, the texting became increasingly inappropriate, according to Puck News, which first broke the story.
The outlet claimed that Nuzzi sent provocative images, though it remained unclear whether the former presidential candidate reciprocated or how involved he was in the exchanges.
The scandal broke just as RFK Jr's political ambitions were winding down.
The 70-year-old, who ended his bid for the White House in August, was expected to attend a family wedding in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. However, he was noticeably absent from the event, where Grace Kennedy Allen, the 30-year-old granddaughter of the late Ted Kennedy, was set to tie the knot.
A friend of RFK Jr noted that it wasn’t uncommon for women to throw themselves at him during his campaign stops.
"All these women fall for him despite his age and his voice," shared the insider, referencing the environmental lawyer's distinctive voice, which is affected by spasmodic dysphonia, a condition that causes involuntary movements of the vocal cords.
