ATLANTA, GEORGIA: A startling childhood story involving a live snake, a pillowcase, a terrified group of children, and a swimming pool has thrust Robert F Kennedy Jr back into the spotlight after his sister publicly recounted the unusual episode during an interview.

On Monday, June 15, Kerry Kennedy described the incident while discussing what she called his lifelong fascination with animals.

Family story that quickly turned chaotic

While speaking to CNN, Kerry Kennedy revealed that the episode began innocently enough when she spotted a snake in her garden and called her brother for help.

What happened next, she suggested, was classic Robert F Kennedy Jr

She recalled that he quickly arrived carrying his infant son in one arm and a pillowcase in the other.

Instead of simply removing the snake, Kennedy allegedly captured it himself and stuffed it into the bag while still holding the baby.

Kerry described the scene as unsettling from the outset, saying she was already nervous watching him juggle both tasks at the same time.

But things were only getting started.

After capturing the reptile, Kennedy reportedly walked over to a nearby children's birthday gathering where dozens of young guests were assembled.

According to Kerry, he then reached into the pillowcase and pulled out the snake for everyone to see.

Children witness impromptu wildlife show

The reptile, she said, repeatedly bit or "chomped" at his hand as he held it up in front of the children.

Rather than ending the demonstration there, Kerry claimed her brother escalated the situation further.

She said a small rodent was spotted nearby and Kennedy grabbed it before placing it into the same bag as the snake.

The move reportedly sent the children into a panic as they feared the animal would become the snake's next meal.

If the birthday party demonstration wasn't unusual enough, Kerry said the strangest part came later.

After returning home, Kennedy allegedly released the same snake into a swimming pool filled with children.

She said the reptile that had already been biting Kennedy's hand throughout the day was suddenly loose among a group of swimming children.

RKF Jr's fascination with 'the wild'

The revelation comes amid renewed scrutiny of Kennedy's well-documented and often unconventional interactions with animals.

In recent years, stories involving wildlife have repeatedly followed him into public life.

Those accounts have ranged from his handling of snakes and birds to widely reported controversies involving animal carcasses and roadkill.

In a recent video, he was seen trying to catch a pair of mating black racer snakes as his wife urged him to stop in the background.

The video had gone viral, garnering over a million views within 60 minutes.
