LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Selena Gomez, who faced controversy after posting and then deleting an emotional video in support of deported Mexican immigrants, is now facing backlash from Riley Gaines

Known for her long-standing stance against illegal immigration, conservative activist and swimmer Gaines took to X (formerly Twitter) to sarcastically criticize the ‘Who Says’ singer for sharing the crying video about Donald Trump's immigration policies.

Gaines also called out Gomez for staying silent on the tragic case of Laken Riley, who lost her life at the hands of an illegal immigrant.

The 24-year-old former competitive swimmer, Riley Gaines slammed the singer on X days after Selena Gomez's crying video for illegal immigrants caught attention online

The tweet read, "Never have I ever filmed myself crying and posted it for the world to see 🖐🏼.”

This came after Gaines shared a message criticizing those who show sympathy for criminals being sent back to their homes, writing along with the video of Gomez crying, “Remember those who uncontrollably cry for criminals returning to their homes but remain silent for the innocent lives lost at the hands of those criminals. Laken Riley was one of many. Selena Gomez did not cry for her.”

Laken, a 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia, was tragically murdered last year by Jose Antonio Ibarra, a Venezuelan man who was living in the US illegally. In response to this, the US President vowed to take stronger action against illegal immigration and significantly ramp up deportations, as per NDTV.

Amid the debate on illegal immigration, Gaines also shared a clip from a Fox News interview with a government official who stood firm on a deportation operation, saying, “We're going to do this operation without apology. We're gonna make our community safer.”

She added, “My politics are whatever this is 🔥.” Additionally, Gaines expressed her views on illegal immigration, tweeting, “So many people don’t understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration. Last week, Trump made it easier for my husband (a legal immigrant) to get a green card. These people are idiots.”

Selena Gomez has faced mockery and criticism for her emotional response to the deportation of illegal immigrants after addressing the consequences of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Following in the response of Megyn Kelly, former Miss California, Tomi Lahren also took to social media to mock the singer.

In a video shared on X, Lahren criticized Gomez for tearing up in a 35-second clip, captioning it, "Certified moron  @selenagomez crying for criminal illegal aliens is really something else. This is why we don’t take our political advice from Disney child stars."

Lahren started the video by laughing and commenting, "I am just watching [laughs] Selena Gomez cry for illegal immigrants."

She continued, "You know these celebrity hacks. They see things on TikTok or Instagram or social media. They're so stupid, and illinformed. that they sit there and cry, because criminal aliens, rapists, murderers are being deported back to their country of origin."

She then expressed her views on the matter, adding, "You know she's lucky that they don't get hung by their toe nails. We are just sending them home."

Lahren wrapped up her comments by saying, "Selena and the fact that you are defending rapists, and  murderers, just shows how, stupid you are. God help you. Bless your heart."
