Ex-Miss California mocks Selena Gomez for crying, suggests immigrants live in singer’s mansion instead
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former Miss California and runner-up Miss USA, Carrie Prejean Boller, has harshly criticized Selena Gomez after the actress posted a tearful video expressing her distress over President Donald Trump’s deportation policy.
Boller, a long-time supporter of the Trump administration, called out Gomez for her emotional video, suggesting that if the actress was truly concerned, she should house immigrants in her own mansion.

Selena Gomez faces backlash after emotional video on immigration
Selena Gomez, visibly emotional in her video, said, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don't understand. I'm so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can't. I don't know what to do. I'll try everything, I promise.”
In her video, she explained that she felt powerless as she witnessed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents deporting individuals she considered to be “her people.”
The video quickly drew backlash from social media users, including Carrie Boller, who took to Instagram to voice her opinion.
"Hey Selena Gomez, How about you call all of 'your people' you're crying about being deported and invite them to stay at your mansion behind your big walls and gates until they leave?” Boller wrote on her Instagram stories.
“Have them over for dinner, feed them, bathe them, let them sleep in your home, pay for their schooling and medical bills. You could have helped them and you have not and will not,” she added, taking aim at Gomez’s apparent lack of personal action.
Boller continued by accusing Gomez of being selective in her outrage, criticizing her for not speaking out over the murders of nursing student Laken Riley and Maryland mother Rachel Morin, both allegedly killed by undocumented immigrants.
“Save your fake tears,” Boller said, questioning the sincerity of Gomez’s public display of emotion.
Selena Gomez faces backlash over emotional video
Selena Gomez’s video was not only met with criticism from Carrie Boller but also sparked a wider debate on social media. British journalist Piers Morgan blasted the actress, calling the video an example of “absurd celebrity narcissism.”
Trump’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, also responded to the video, defending the deportation policy and saying, “We’re gonna make our community safer. It is all for the good of this nation. And we’re gonna keep going. No apologies. We’re moving forward.”
In the wake of the backlash, Gomez deleted her video and posted a response saying, "Apparently it's not ok to show empathy for people." The 32-year-old actress, who purchased a $4.9 million mansion in Encino, California, in 2020, has long been an advocate for immigrant rights.
She produced the Netflix documentary 'Living Undocumented' in 2019, which chronicled the lives of undocumented families in the US She has also spoken about her own family’s immigration journey, as her aunt crossed the border from Mexico in the 1970s.
