Rob Reiner’s son Nick arrested after parents found dead in Brentwood home, bail set at $4M
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nick Reiner, the son of filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner, was taken into custody on Sunday, December 14, in connection with the deaths of his parents, who were found dead inside their Brentwood home, according to Los Angeles County jail records.
Reiner was booked into custody on suspicion of murder and is being held on $4 million bail. Jail records showed that he was taken into custody late Sunday evening and formally booked early Monday morning.
Authorities have not publicly detailed the charges or the evidence supporting his arrest.
Couple found dead in Brentwood home
Los Angeles police said officers responded to Reiners’ residence in the 200 block of Chadbourne Avenue after the Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the home around 3.30 pm to provide medical aid.
Sources later identified the victims as Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. Law enforcement officials said the deaths are being investigated as a homicide.
Authorities said that there were no signs of forced entry at the home. Law enforcement sources told local media the victims sustained injuries consistent with stabbing, though police have not released an official cause of death.
Son Nick Reiner questioned before arrest
Nick Reiner had been questioned by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division in the hours following the discovery of the bodies, according to law enforcement sources.

Investigators said that one of the couple’s children found them inside the home and contacted authorities. Police have not said who discovered the bodies.
By Sunday evening, the neighborhood was sealed off with crime scene tape as officers conducted interviews and forensic work. A police helicopter circled overhead while patrol cars blocked access to the street.

Michele Reiner’s work and family life
Michele Singer Reiner was a photographer and producer who collaborated with her husband on several projects in recent years, including 'Shock and Awe' and 'Albert Brooks: Defending My Life'.
The couple married in 1989 and had three children together. They were frequent attendees at major Hollywood and political events, most recently appearing together at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2023.
