Nick Reiner opened up about addiction and recovery
In a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, Nick Reiner shared that he struggled with d**g addiction for much of his life, beginning in his teenage years and at times living on the streets.
He stated that he went in and out of rehab starting at approximately age 15 and, as his addiction worsened and he became estranged from his family, he spent significant periods homeless across several states.
Nick told PEOPLE that the turbulent period of addiction, which included nights and weeks spent sleeping outside, later inspired the semi-autobiographical film 'Being Charlie,' which he co-wrote.
At the time of the interview, Nick spoke about his recovery and returning home, saying, “Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in LA and being around my family.”
