LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14, in an apparent homicide with wounds consistent with a knife.
The “78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman” were confirmed to be the director and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, according to PEOPLE.
LAPD investigates deaths of Rob Reiner and wife Michele in Brentwood
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were summoned to the Brentwood residence on Sunday afternoon after the discovery of the deaths.
According to reports cited by PEOPLE, Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68, “were found dead by apparent homicide inside their Brentwood, Calif, home on Dec 14.”
The Los Angeles Fire Department previously informed NBC Los Angeles that a “78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman” were initially found deceased. Due to the high-profile nature of the case, detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division were also at the scene, according to a spokesperson for LAPD.
The street in front of the home was blocked off, and detectives were seen entering and exiting the residence.
Emergency responders first on scene at Rob Reiner Brentwood home
LAFD paramedics first responded to the Chadbourne Avenue home at approximately 3:30 pm.
Following this, LAPD officers were dispatched to the location for a report of an “ambulance death investigation,” which is the department’s terminology for when officers are called by firefighters after a death is discovered.
Property records confirmed that Reiner and his wife, who wed in 1989 and share three children, Jake, Nick, and Romy, own the residence.
