LEWISTON, MAINE: Recently released dashcam footage shows that a Maine law enforcement official decided not to take action against the Maine mass shooter, Robert Card, as they thought it would escalate the situation, as per Fox News

Weeks later, on October 25, Card went on a shooting rampage at the Lewiston Schemengees Bar and Grille and Just In Time bowling alley, leaving 18 people dead and 13 injured.

He was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound next to dumpsters at a recycling plant in Lisbon Falls, where he once worked, on October 27.

Dashcam footage shows Miane authorities talked about the looming threat of Rober Card

The Portland Press Herald was reportedly able to obtain dashcam footage of an exchange between Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Sgt Aaron Skolfield and Army Reserve Capt Jeremy Reamer on September 16.

Skolfield was checking in with Reamer regarding certain actions taken by Card, such as his threatening to "shoot up" an Army reserve center located in Saco, Maine.

In response to that report, the sheriff's office apparently went to Card's home to conduct a welfare check and quickly began staking out the Army reserve center.

Reamer can be heard responding, "The only thing I would ask is if you could just document it."

He further reported, "Just say, 'He was there, he was uncooperative. But it is confirmed that he was alive and breathing.' That’s, from my end here, all we’re really looking for."

Skolfield brought up Maine's "yellow flag" law, which allows for the seizure of firearms from potentially dangerous individuals.

"So that, obviously, is a hurdle we have to deal with. But at the same time, we don’t want to throw a stick of dynamite on a pool of gas, either — make things worse," further noted the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Sgt.

To this, Reamer replied, "I’m a cop myself. Obviously, I don’t want you guys to get hurt or do anything that would put you guys in a compromising position."

Auburn City Councilor Leroy Walker Sr expresses concern over released footage

The encounter shocked Auburn City Councilor Leroy Walker Sr, whose son Joseph Walker was killed in the shooting.

He remarked, "I would like to know what we train these people to do. Is it just to deliver mail? Or stop innocent people that may be driving 11 miles (per hour) over the speed limit?" Leroy also called the video "sick."
