Robert Crimo III chooses to represent himself in trial
Crimo has terminated his public defenders, informing the judge of his decision to represent himself at trial. He faces charges of multiple counts of degree murder.
During the court proceedings, Judge Victoria Rossetti repeatedly asked Crimo if he comprehended the potential penalties, including consecutive life sentences, should a jury find him guilty.
She suggested that he reconsider his decision to represent himself. In response, Crimo asserted his understanding and expressed a desire to proceed.
Despite the judge questioning Crimo about his legal education and advising him to reconsider, the suspect mentioned having observed a courtroom and having only received a high school education.
Ultimately, Rossetti conceded, stating, "You will be representing yourself," and agreed to reschedule the trial date by a year from the initially planned timeframe.

Crimo's trial is scheduled to commence on February 26, which is anticipated to endure four to six weeks due to the considerable number of witnesses and extensive evidence.
Jury selection alone is expected to take seven to 10 days. Initially, the judge proposed starting the trial in February 2025, but the date was altered after Crimo invoked his constitutional right to a speedy trial.
The deadline for motions is January 5, and Crimo's forthcoming court appearance is slated for January 10 as per ABC News.
