NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Controversial political figure Roger Stone claimed on his X (formerly Twitter) account that significant Democratic donors have largely withdrawn their support for President Biden's reelection campaign, adding that Kamala Harris would choose Gov Josh Shapiro for VP. 

This shift follows Biden's underwhelming debate performance against former President Donald Trump last week.

"My sources say despite his meeting with the Governors momentum still against Biden. Large donors have really jumped ship," Stone posted.

Stone made these remarks following a national gathering of Democratic governors and the Biden campaign aimed at uniting the Democratic ticket amid internal strife following the first presidential debate.

The long-time adviser to President Donald Trump, originally from Connecticut, further emphasized that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's recent comments questioning President Biden's viability as a candidate in the 2024 election were noteworthy.

“Pelosi comments were very damaging. Harris, surprisingly, has consolidated her position quickly. Rumors of Kamala taking Gov Josh Shapiro for VP to alter the map,” Stone added.

Stone additionally stated that according to his Democratic sources, the party's major fundraisers, known as "bundlers," who typically raise substantial sums for the Democratic Party, have ceased their fundraising efforts until Biden is replaced. 

According to Forbes, potential picks such as Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro could aid the party in bolstering support in crucial swing states where Biden currently lags behind former President Donald Trump, according to polling averages.

This is despite Biden having won both states in the 2020 election.
