Rosie O'Donnell insists her non-binary child is 'safe in Ireland' as she blasts Trump's America

WASHINGTON, DC: Rosie O’Donnell has never exactly been shy about her feelings toward Donald Trump.
The comedian, 62, unloaded in a nearly 10-minute TikTok video video earlier this week, blasting the president, revisiting their long-running feud, and explaining why she now calls Ireland home.
Why Rosie O’Donnell chose Ireland
“I knew he’d come after me in his own way because I won’t shut up,” O’Donnell said in the clip, as quoted by the Irish Star. “Nobody should. We can’t. ‘Well, why go to Ireland if you’re just gonna keep talking about him?’ Well, because I’m safe here, and my kid is safe here.”

Her move, she explained, was about protecting her 12-year-old.
“A nonbinary, autistic kid is safe in Ireland. Not so much in the United States now with all the cuts to special ed, and all the cuts to the Department of Education, and all this hatred toward trans and nonbinary individuals,” she said.
Before shifting to another subject, Rosie branded Trump “an evil man.”
Rosie O’Donnell on leaving the US again
O’Donnell, who previously decamped overseas during Trump’s first term from 2016 to 2020, bolted again shortly after his second inauguration earlier this year.
The former talk show queen laid it out in an earlier video announcing the move: “When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back... I was never someone who thought I would move to another country; that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. And here we are.”
Life in Ireland, she added, has been a breath of fresh air. “It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming. And I’m very grateful.”

Still, she admitted that watching the political chaos in the States has taken its toll. “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know,” she insisted.
Rosie revealed her youngest is with her in Ireland, while her four older kids stayed behind in the US “Sorry for those of you who were worried and who missed me. I just felt like we needed to take care of ourselves, make some hard decisions, and follow through,” she added.
Mark Hamill also considered moving abroad after Trump's relection
O'Donnell isn’t the only celeb who considered leaving after Trump’s 2024 win.
'Star Wars' legend Mark Hamill admitted he almost followed suit, telling The Times he wanted to move to either Ireland or London.
But it was his wife, Marilou York, who talked him down. “She’s very clever,” Hamill said. “She didn’t respond right away, but a week later she said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country.’ That son of a bitch, I thought. I’m not leaving.”

White House fires back at Rosie O’Donnell and Mark Hamill
The White House weighed in with a jab at both Hamill and O’Donnell
“Since Mark has decided to stay in the United States, he will get to enjoy the many wins President Trump is securing for the American people — and really, who can blame him for second-guessing a plan to move to the same place as Rosie O’Donnell,” a spokesperson told Fox News.

Rosie and Trump’s war of words dates back to the early 2000s, with her once vowing to leave the US if he ever became president — a promise she has finally kept.
Trump, in turn, has never missed a chance to throw shade. He has previously called her “a loser” and “a real dummy.”
