CINCINNATI, OHIO: Cincinnati traffic anchor KJ Jacobs was talking viewers through a slowdown on Thursday, August 6, night when a crash suddenly unfolded in front of him.

Jacobs was pointing out a car stopped near an on-ramp during his WCPO 9 report when another vehicle slammed into it.

His reaction was picked up on camera, followed by an apology.

The clip quickly took off online, crossing 10 million views within a few hours.

KJ Jacob's reaction breaks internet

Jacobs was in the middle of describing traffic around a stopped vehicle when he realized what was unfolding.

“Traffic is slowing down, both sides, around this car, as well as that on ramp,” he said.

Seconds later, another vehicle came off the ramp and slammed into the stopped car, leaving Jacobs visibly stunned. He quickly regained his composure.

“Oh, I’m so sorry,” he said. “This literally, just watched a crash happen in real time, and I almost said something inappropriate.”

The video shows the first car sitting between the highway and the on-ramp, while the second vehicle appears to exit the ramp early and collide with it.

The moment unfolded within seconds, giving Jacobs little time to react before realizing what had just happened. Despite the shock, he continued the segment without losing track of the report.

Jacobs later shared the footage on X, saying it was the first time he had ever watched a crash unfold while he was on air.

The clip quickly gained traction, pulling in more than 10 million views within hours.

The video has since circulated widely across social media platforms, with users commenting on how quickly events escalated.

A commentator justified Jacobs's sudden response to the clip, writing: “very valid reaction to this.”

Many viewers praised Jacobs for maintaining professionalism as they acknowledged the unexpected moment that unfolded live on air.

One social media user reacted to the clip, writing: “When the traffic report becomes the breaking news.”

Another commentator wrote: “Hit a car parked with the flashers on, who in the world was driving” as he questioned what led to the unexpected crash.

Cause of crash remains unclear

There was no immediate explanation for why the first vehicle had stopped in that location.

It was also unclear why the second driver exited the on-ramp the way it did in the video.

There was no immediate information available on the condition of those involved.

Officials had not released further details about the crash as of Friday, and it remains uncertain whether any citations or investigations are underway.
