WASHINGTON, DC: Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and prominent ally of Donald Trump, has recently made an extraordinary claim regarding the treatment of Steve Bannon, another key figure in Trump’s political circle.

According to Giuliani, Bannon is being "tortured" in prison due to a lack of access to television, as reported by HuffPost.

This controversial statement was made during Giuliani’s appearance on Bannon’s streaming series, 'War Room: Battleground', where he was joined by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Rudy Giuliani claims Trump ally Steve Bannon is being 'tortured' in prison

On Tuesday, August 20, Rudy Giuliani took to Steve Bannon’s platform, 'War Room: Battleground', to voice his concerns about the conditions Bannon is allegedly enduring while serving his prison sentence.

Bannon, who was convicted of contempt of Congress for defying a 2021 subpoena, is currently serving a four-month sentence at Danbury Federal Correctional Institution in Connecticut.

Giuliani, who filled in for Bannon on the show, claimed that the former White House strategist is being subjected to unfair treatment.

"Steve unfortunately can’t hear this broadcast, which is an outrage," Giuliani stated, emphasizing that Bannon’s inability to access television is a form of mistreatment.

Drawing on his past experience with the federal prison system during the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford, Giuliani argued that it is unusual for prisoners in Bannon’s "category" to be denied television access, especially for specific programs or news events.

Giuliani went on to accuse Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Bureau of Prisons of singling out Bannon for harsher treatment.

He claimed that Bannon’s case had been transferred from the Bureau of Prisons to the Department of Justice, suggesting that Garland’s office is now "calling the shots."

According to Giuliani, his contacts within the Bureau of Prisons have informed him that the decision to restrict Bannon’s access to television was made at the highest levels, further fueling his assertion that Bannon is being unjustly targeted.

The former mayor didn’t stop there. He described the situation as "torture" using air quotes, stating, "Steve Bannon is not being treated the way other prisoners are being treated… this election is about a fascist regime, and Steve Bannon is prime number one victim."

Bannon’s current imprisonment is not his only legal battle.

While his four-month sentence is set to conclude by the end of October, just in time for the 2024 presidential election, Bannon’s legal woes are far from over.

On Friday, August 23, New York State Supreme Court Judge April Newbauer ruled that Bannon must face trial for criminal fraud charges in December.
