Eva Mendes celebrates Ryan Gosling's 'Ghost Rider' casting with sweet tribute

Charlie’s arrival comes just days after Marvel announced on Tuesday that Gosling had been cast as 'Ghost Rider', also known as Johnny Blaze, in the upcoming film. The Oscar-nominated actor becomes the next performer to take on the superhero role previously played onscreen by Nicolas Cage.

The announcement also carries a personal connection for Mendes, who starred opposite Cage in the 2007 film. Following the casting announcement, she celebrated his new role with a supportive Instagram post on July 26.

She also shared a fan-made edit featuring Gosling from 'The Place Beyond the Pines', the 2012 film where the couple first met, portraying him as an ideal 'Ghost Rider.'

The clip highlights Gosling’s introduction as motorcycle stuntman Luke Glanton, showing him preparing for a performance by getting dressed before climbing onto his motorcycle and putting on his helmet. Fans first see only Luke’s back before he briefly reveals his face and slides on the helmet.

The edit read, “From this intro only i thought Ryan Gosling can be a perfect casting for ghost rider role.” In the caption, Mendes wrote, “Love, Roxy,” referencing the character she played in the 2007 film. The new film, directed by Shawn Levy, marks Gosling's first superhero role and his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
