LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sadie Sink has revealed how Taylor Swift personally approached her team to pitch her the lead role in ‘All Too Well: The Short Film,’ recalling her surprise at the unexpected opportunity despite never having met the singer before.

Her comments come after Swift and Travis Kelce were spotted giving her a standing ovation at her London production of ‘Romeo & Juliet’ earlier this year. The couple also recently tied the knot in July, with Adam Sandler officiating their wedding ceremony.

Sadie Sink recalls Taylor Swift personally pitching her ‘All Too Well’ role

During an interview with Variety on Saturday, August 8, Sink recalled how Swift approached her about starring in ‘All Too Well: The Short Film,’ admitting she initially had to make sure the message was genuinely from the singer.

“And then with All Too Well with Taylor Swift, that was something that I, it was just kind of thrown together. And she just, she reached out to my team,” she recalled.

“I didn't know her. I was a huge fan. But she reached out to my team,” Sink said, adding that she initially wondered whether the message could be a scam, adding, “And I remember not thinking that it was her like I really needed to check that like her. It wasn't someone trying to scam me or something. But it was her and she pitched me the idea for All Too Well.”

Sink admitted that her first reaction was confusion over why Swift had selected her, “And I was like, why me?” The short film, released in 2021, featured Sink opposite Dylan O'Brien, and served as the music video to Swift's extended version of the breakup ballad.

The ‘Stranger Things’ actor previously described the pop star as having been a significant influence on her life during an interview with Bustle. “She's been such a huge part of my life,” she said, explaining that Swift’s songs could help her connect with characters and added, “If a song of hers reminded me of a character, I would use it to get into a role.”

During an older interview with Variety, Sink admitted that she was unfamiliar with the emotional themes in Swift's short film. “At that point, I had never been in love,” she said adding, “I had never been through a breakup that intense. It was all foreign territory for me.”

Sink also made her Marvel debut in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ portraying the mutant telepath Jean Grey. She told Nylon that she was offered the role without an audition after previously working with director Destin Daniel Cretton on ‘The Glass Castle.’

She did not receive the script until she landed in London for filming. Sink also praised Tom Holland for welcoming her to the set, describing him as relaxed and open. Despite knowing Spider-Man had a huge fan base, she admitted that the scale of the blockbuster production felt “really big.”
