WASHINGTON, DC: Hunter Biden, the first son, came under fire from James Comer for seemingly intending to miss this week's public session, saying that the GOP may propose criminal charges, according to the New York Post.

Following Hunter Biden's attorney Abbe Lowell's rejection of an invitation to attend the hearing on Wednesday, March 13, calling it a 'carnival side-show', the chairman of the House Oversight Committee raised the possibility.

James Comer says possibility of ‘criminal referrals’ is on if Hunter skips public hearing

Comer told Fox News during 'Sunday Morning Futures' on march 17, "I think that we’re at the point in the investigation where we need to hear the discrepancies."

He added, "If he does not show up, then it’s not going to end well for the Bidens, because we have three witnesses … that have already testified under oath to significantly different stories as to what exactly the Biden influence peddling schemes were."

He further stated, "This is very serious because we’re at the point now of criminal referrals."

Notably, Hunter Biden should appear and deny the charges made by his former business colleagues, according to the Kentucky Republican leading the three-panel impeachment investigation.

Devon Archer, Tony Bobulinski, and Jason Galanis—three of Hunter Biden's former business associates—are the other three witnesses slated to testify at the hearing on March 20.

The three individuals have all previously testified on the Biden family's purported influence peddling overseas before the impeachment panel or one of its panels.

Moreover, regarding who might receive referrals for criminal cases, Comer remained evasive. "We have spent a year investigating this. We have faced massive obstruction from the White House, from the Biden legal team, yet we have been able to get probably 80 percent of the information that we have requested," he said.

He added, "We have accumulated lots of evidence of wrongdoing. I can’t tell you a single legitimate business the Bidens had, other than they were influence peddling."

Comer's depictions of President Biden and his son Hunter's family's dealings have been sharply contested by the two men. The president has vehemently denied any misconduct. Hunter Biden sat for more than six hours to testify before the panel on February 28. He was quite aggressive with Republicans, according to a transcript.

Before this, the scandal-plagued first son skipped his planned appearance on December 13, 2023, and instead chastised Republicans spontaneously on camera. He'd insisted on a hearing in public. His team consented to the February testimony behind closed doors following weeks of talks.

Internet responds as GOP may propose criminal charges on Hunter Biden

Several people on the Internet trolled Hunter Biden as James Comer said that the GOP may propose criminal charges on him for seemingly intending to miss this week's public session.

A user posted on X, "Criminal referrals will go to the corrupt DOJ which will do exactly nothing about it," while one added, "That perverted druggie will never face consequences."

Someone else stated, "Why play games? The left throw everyone in jail that they can. Refer him for prosecution," while one mentioned, "Waste of taxpayer money with this crack head. If he wasn’t a Biden he’d be locked up."

Another wrote, "Same old bs. These cr7minals just laughing everyday."
