QUEENS, NEW YORK: The bartender who was fatally stabbed in an Irish pub in Queens over the weekend was described by police sources and witnesses on Sunday, March 31, as a "sweet innocent girl" from Ireland who had been attacked by her boyfriend.

Sarah McNally, 41, of Glendale, died on the floor of the Ceili House pub on Grand Avenue in Maspeth, according to police sources, after being stabbed at 6.30 pm and suffering cuts to her neck.

What led to the killing of Sarah McNally?

It is unclear what led to the killing. However, according to sources, McNally's boyfriend, with whom she had been living for a few months, stormed into the bar, stabbed her, and then attempted to flee the dive bar, whose name in Gaelic means "social gathering," New York Post reported.

“She was just standing there talking,” said a female patron who witnessed the chaos. “Her boyfriend came in … and he just walked right in and stabbed her. Then he started trying to stab himself. Horrible. Just horrible!”

According to sources, the suspect was bleeding from self-inflicted injuries caused by a knife and had a blade in each hand when the police arrived. When he refused to drop the knives, the officers used their stun guns to taze him, according to sources.

Unidentified stabber was taken to hospital in critical condition

Police said that the unidentified stabber was taken in critical condition to NYC Health + Hospitals Elmhurst by the authorities. Sources said that charges against him are pending.

According to sources, the couple had no history of domestic violence that could have contributed to McNally's horrific demise.

Mike Lambe, a 62-year-old landlord who has lived near the bar for more than two decades, told The Post on Sunday that McNally was a “sweet, innocent girl from Longford,” a county in the center of the Emerald Isle.

She had been working at the bar less than a year, he said, and added, “She was an innocent!” The resident said the street has its issues, including druggies and their dealers. “It’s been getting worse and worse,” he shared.
