Savannah Guthrie returns to 'Today' studio 33 days after mother Nancy’s disappearance
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Savannah Guthrie visited the 'Today' show studio on Thursday, March 5, for the first time over a month after her mother, Nancy, went missing, and investigators are still searching for her.
The journalist had taken a break from work and had stayed in Tucson, Arizona, for more than a month looking for her mother alongside the officers after the 84-year-old disappeared on February 1. She was last seen on January 31.
Savannah Guthrie visited 'Today' studio to 'thank her colleagues'
The show shared a statement to The US Sun regarding Guthrie’s visit, “Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her TODAY colleagues. While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.”
The publication released the photos of Guthrie visiting the studio as she was seen speaking with the 'Today' crew. At one point, the 54-year-old was also pictured getting emotional and wiping away her tears.
Savannah Guthrie's 'every intention' of coming back to her job
CNN’s Brian Stelter was informed by sources that Guthrie has “every intention of coming back. I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to. You’re my family. And, I would like to try.”
The broadcaster also thanked crew members for their concerns and “caring about my mom as much as I do.”
Sheinelle Jones says she's 'proud of Savannah'
Besides, during the 4th hour of 'Today' hosted by Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones, the latter also spoke about Guthrie’s visit.
She said, “We’ve been wearing our pins, and everybody I know is just like touching her, and we’re hugging, and everybody wants to lay eyes on her.”
“But it’s interesting, because I think I handle moments like this differently now, because I am in some ways, I’m not smiling, but I feel I’m proud of Savannah, and I’m rooting for Savannah, and I know the strength that it would take to even just come in here and to be amongst all of us,” Jones added.
Savannah Guthrie begged kidnapper to return her mother
This came after Guthrie had shared multiple videos urging people to help her find her mother.
In one such post, she directly addressed the potential kidnapper and their apparent ransom note, saying, “We received your message, and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her.”
“This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay,” Guthrie added.
