SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: Texas authorities have reportedly discovered the bodies of Savannah Kriger, 32, and her three-year-old son, Kaiden, in a suspected murder-suicide case, unfolding amidst a bitter custody dispute.

Kriger and her son were reported missing on Monday, March 18, following Kriger's abrupt departure from work to pick up Kaiden from daycare.

Concern for the mother and son arose among family members as all attempts to reach Kriger failed, with her phone's location services being deliberately disabled.

Responding to the escalating worry, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office initiated a welfare check at Kriger's residence, only to find the house deserted, with the woman's vehicle absent from the driveway.

Upon gaining entry, deputies encountered evidence raising concerns for the safety of both Kriger and her son, prompting the issuance of an Amber Alert. Following a trail of phone pings, authorities pinpointed Kriger's car at Tom Slick Park, launching a search that ultimately led to the grim discovery of two bodies near a drainage easement on Tuesday, March 19 morning.

"We are operating on the premise that this is Savannah and the child," Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed, before adding, "It appears that there's some evidence that there may have been some gunshots fired, but again, at this point, it's too early to give anything beyond tentative identification," reported Daily Mail.

While authorities lean toward the theory of a murder-suicide, with no outstanding suspects, Salazar emphasized the need for verification before reaching conclusive determinations. "We don’t believe there are any suspects outstanding," the sheriff stated.

Kriger and Kaiden were believed to have crossed "considerable ways" from the park to the site where their bodies were found. "Disappointed that we're operating on that premise until we can verify," Salazar added.

The distressing events unfolded against the backdrop of an ongoing legal battle between Kriger and Kaiden's father, Brian, with a custody hearing scheduled for the very day of the discovery.
