TORONTO, CANADA: A school teacher in Toronto, Canada, was suspended after allegedly showing a video of Charlie Kirk’s shooting to 10 and 11-year-old students in his class, authorities in Canada said.

The teacher also told his students that the 31-year-old conservative commentator deserved to be killed, and gave them a speech about anti-fascism and transgender issues, as per a report by the Toronto Sun.

Students traumatized after watching clip of Charlie Kirk shooting

A source informed the outlet, "Several students from his class went home and complained to their parents, traumatized at witnessing the on-camera death, which they were forced to witness numerous times over."

"Parents subsequently reached out to school administrators, who will be putting him on leave at the start of the school day on September 12, 2025," the source further mentioned.

Moreover, the source added, "While playing this video repeatedly, he gave a speech to his students regarding anti-fascism, anti-trans, and how Charlie Kirk deserved for this to occur."

Meanwhile, a letter was sent to the students' homes on Friday, September 12, who were affected by watching video, and called the teacher’s alleged behavior "extremely troubling and completely disturbing", the Toronto Sun reported.

The letter, signed by Corvette Junior Public School Principal Jennifer Koptie, read, "During class, students were said to have been shown a portion of a violent video in response to questions being asked about a recent tragic event in the United States."

The letter mentioned that the video was allegedly shown to students in grades 5 and 6 — typically aged 10 to11 — by a staff member who was not the regular teacher and was supervising a French immersion class.

Investigation after students show Charlie Kirk death video

The letter further mentioned, "While an investigation must still be conducted to learn all of the details, the report of this incident is extremely troubling and completely unacceptable."

"We recognize the seriousness of this matter and have taken immediate steps to follow all appropriate policies and procedures," Koptie mentioned in the letter.

The letter further stated that the teacher "has been relieved of all teaching responsibilities pending the outcome of the investigation and will not be at the school".

The school principal added that assistance is being offered to any children traumatized by the incident.

The letter read, "I also want to assure you that our top priority is supporting students. Social Work support has been made available to the school. I will be visiting the class along with a member of our Social Work team to check in with students and provide support."

People fired for negative reaction to Charlie Kirk's death

Many individuals have lost their jobs for their negative response to Charlie Kirk's death. MSNBC political analyst Matthew Dowd was fired on September 10, after he suggested that Charlie Kirk's "hate speech" inevitably led to him being shot.

Similarly, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Section Chief Sean Kelly was also fired after an undercover clip went viral showing him laughing about the shooting of Kirk and saying he "kind of deserved it".

Moreover, American and Delta airlines fired pilots and employees after some were allegedly “caught celebrating” Kirk's death.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a statement, "Pilots who were caught celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk have been immediately grounded and removed from service by @AmericanAir. This behavior is disgusting and they should be fired. Any company responsible for the safety of the traveling public cannot tolerate that behavior."
