WASHINGTON, DC: CNN GOP analyst Scott Jennings lashed out over President Donald Trump’s loss to newly awarded Nobel Peace Prize recipient Maria Corina Machado, arguing that Trump was more deserving of the honor and that his win would have “p****d off all the right people.”

The Nobel Committee recognized Machado for her “unwavering activism” against Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro’s regime, a decision that quickly triggered reactions from both sides of the political spectrum.

Machado, in her acceptance remarks, dedicated the prize to Trump, thanking him and the American people for their “support in helping Venezuelans reclaim democracy.”

CNN panel debates Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize snub

The comments came during a lively exchange on CNN’s 'The Arena,' hosted by Kasie Hunt and featuring panelists Astead Herndon, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Jamal Simmons, and Scott Jennings.

During the discussion, Simmons noted that while Trump remains a politically dominant figure, his posture as a “victim” undermines his global stature.

He pointed to the contrast between Trump’s foreign policy successes and domestic turmoil, saying, “It’s so hard for people who want to root for American success to root for Donald Trump, because he’s doing both of these things at the same time.”

Scott Jennings defends Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize eligibility

Jennings pushed back strongly, asserting that Democrats’ dislike for Trump clouds their ability to celebrate America’s achievements.

“It is hard for Democrats to root for America’s success because they’re so broken by Donald Trump,” Jennings said. “Donald Trump is the core problem of the Democratic Party.”

He went on to list what he saw as Trump’s accomplishments worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize, including the Abraham Accords, diplomatic breakthroughs with Iran, and “eight other peace agreements.”

“He deserved it before this deal. He deserves it now. If they don’t give it to him next year, it will be a travesty,” Jennings said. “And I hope he does get it, because at the end of the day, it will p*ss off all the right people. I would be so happy.”

Maria Corina Machado’s Nobel tribute to Trump sparks global debate

While Jennings acknowledged that Machado “deserved” the award, her decision to dedicate it to Trump has added a political edge to the Nobel Committee’s announcement. It fueled conservative claims that Trump’s global influence continues to resonate beyond the White House.

Meanwhile, during a press briefing on Friday, October 10, Trump revealed that Machado apparently told him, "I'm accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserved it."

"The person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me, and said, 'I'm accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserved it.' A really nice thing to do."

“I didn’t say ‘then give it to me’ though. I think she might have, she was very nice. I’ve been helping her along the way. They need a lot of help in Venezuela; it’s a basic disaster,” he added.
