Internet outraged over Trump missing out on Nobel Peace prize: 'Affirmative action nonsense'

WASHINGTON, DC: Frustration erupted among Donald Trump’s supporters after the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado on Friday, with many calling it a “mockery” after the president’s recent diplomatic success in the Middle East.

The Nobel Committee praised Machado for her “courageous struggle for democracy and human rights” against President Nicolas Maduro’s authoritarian regime.

But Trump loyalists insist the president was far more deserving, especially after Israel and Hamas accepted the first phase of Trump’s peace plan earlier this week, a move many considered a major step toward regional stability.

Trump supporters erupt online after Nobel announcement

Following the announcement, several of Trump’s high-profile supporters took to X to express disbelief and anger.

Political activist Laura Loomer called Machado’s win “affirmative action nonsense,” adding, "What an absolute joke. Everyone knows President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.”

One user on X commented, "I believe that if one day next year we see @realDonaldTrump

walking through the streets of Gaza in the midst of reconstruction, while Palestinians applaud and cheer him, showing their respect and gratitude, President Trump will be honored with greater grandeur, as he deserves."

Another said, "That’s not how the Nobel Peace Prize works. Nominations close in January, and the committee picks the winner months before the announcement. The peace deals Trump helped broker happened after the deadline — so there was no way he could’ve gotten it this year. If anything, that just puts him in a great position for next year’s prize. People need to understand the process before crying foul."

While another said, "If @NobelPrize nominations have to be in by January 31st, that means Obama was nominated less than 2 weeks after his inauguration in 2009. That makes no sense. Yet they awarded it to him. Don’t tell me the committee is not corrupt & political."

Another added, "Remind me again how Obama got his? Even he was surprised."

One commented, "Turns out, peace only counts if it comes with socialism."

While another said, "The Nobel Prize committee has devolved into a cadre of partisan left-wing operatives for ages now. The whole thing's lost any shred of legitimacy."

Entrepreneur Mario Nawfal, who has more than 2.6 million followers, suggested Trump’s timing might have played a role, noting that “the nomination deadline for the Nobel Peace Prize was in January, just as his second term began.”

Supporters say Trump ‘earned it’ after Middle East progress

The online backlash comes amid growing recognition of Trump’s foreign policy accomplishments, particularly in the Middle East. His peace plan between Israel and Hamas, once dismissed by critics, is now credited for bringing both sides to early agreement.

“President Trump brokered peace where decades of diplomats failed, yet the Nobel Committee overlooked it completely,” one supporter wrote on Truth Social.

Others accused the Nobel Committee of bias, arguing it has a “long history of rewarding establishment figures while ignoring real-world results.”

Despite the snub, Trump’s allies say he remains focused on the bigger picture.
