WILMINGTON, DELAWARE: An incident involving President Joe Biden's motorcade in Wilmington on Sunday evening, December 17, has stirred fierce debate online, with critics arguing the Secret Service reacted too slowly to protect the president from potential harm, as reported by The Messenger.

Car crash happened as President Biden and first lady were exiting campaign headquarters

The drama unfolded around 8 pm Sunday evening as President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were exiting his campaign headquarters. The couple had just finished sharing a casual pasta dinner with staffers inside the low-key building before preparing to depart.

As the Bidens said farewell to the gathered staff members and reporters awaiting them outside, a deafening noise interrupted the scene. A silver sedan accelerated rapidly through a nearby intersection, slamming at full speed into the right rear panel of a Secret Service SUV positioned to shield the presidential motorcade.

Video footage shows President Biden visibly startled, blurting out "Woah!" as the loud collision occurs just steps behind him. Within seconds, armed Secret Service agents had drawn their weapons on the sedan's driver, who remained seated with his hands in the air. Other agents simultaneously worked to hustle reporters and staffers away from the chaotic scene.

With the First Lady already safely inside the presidential limousine, agents surrounded a shocked President Biden to rush him quickly into the vehicle. The motorcade then accelerated away from the scene swiftly amidst the wail of sirens.
