CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: In a highly anticipated docuseries titled 'Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them', Yolanda Saldivar, 63, the convicted killer of beloved Mexican artist Selena Quintanilla, 23, breaks her silence after 30 years to "set the story straight" on the tragic events leading up to the singer's untimely death in March 1995.

The release of the upcoming two-part series has ignited a firestorm of controversy, with Selena's father Abraham Quintanilla vehemently condemning the project.

Selena Quintanilla's father slams Yolanda Saldivar's tale

Abraham Quintanilla expressed his strong disapproval, asserting that neither he nor the rest of Selena's family supports or participates in the docuseries. The heartbroken father minced no words in his criticism, stating that he wants absolutely nothing to do with Yolanda and denouncing her statements as "nothing but lies."

"No one's gonna believe what she has to say anyway. Everyone knows there's zero truth to anything that comes out of her mouth," he said, TMZ reported.

The docuseries promises an intimate look into the mind of Yolanda, who fatally shot Selena at a Texas hotel in 1995. Yolanda has consistently maintained that the shooting was accidental, a claim Selena's family vehemently disputes.

The relationship between Selena and Yolanda, once characterized by trust and friendship, took a dark turn as allegations of embezzlement surfaced. Yolanda, initially an adoring fan and in-home nurse, had become a key figure in Selena's inner circle, managing the star's fan club and business outlets.

Yolanda Saldivar's embezzlement scandal

As tensions escalated, Selena confronted Yolanda over alleged embezzlement, resulting in her dismissal. The subsequent meeting at a Days Inn hotel ended in tragedy when Yolanda shot Selena with a .38-caliber revolver, claiming innocence and presenting bank statements as proof.

Yolanda was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. Despite multiple appeals asserting her innocence, she remains behind bars, and her upcoming parole eligibility in 2025 has reignited public interest in the case.

'Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them' is scheduled to premiere on Oxygen with back-to-back episodes on February 17 at 8 pm, followed by the final episode on February 18 at 7 pm.
