LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Seth Meyers seems to be fed up with the constant overshadowing of Donald Trump in the fourth GOP debate.

In the segment titled 'A Closer Look', Meyers humorously pointed out that despite other candidates like Chris Christie, Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy trailing far behind Trump in the polls, they still deserve to be heard.

Meyers' playful take suggests that, at this point, the dominance of Trump in the political discourse has become so significant that other candidates struggle to get attention.

Seth Meyers says GOP candidates fought 'like pigeons'

Seth Meyers, in a playful move, started playing a recap of the opening of the fourth debate but humorously cut it off before the candidates even got a chance to talk. He quipped, "Just kidding, no one gives a s**t."

The host expressed his frustration, asking, "Why should I act like any of these people are actually running against Donald Trump when they won’t even act like they’re running against Donald Trump?"

Meyers humorously painted a vivid image of the candidates, saying, "They spent the whole debate fighting each other like pigeons fighting over a french fry in the parking lot of a restaurant that is owned by a much bigger pigeon."

He also observed that the candidates, except Christ Christie, did not "bother to go after Trump," and pointed out that this was "despite his obvious weakness," referring to the ongoing trial against him.

Just hours after the other candidates engaged in the GOP debate, on the morning of December 7, Trump found himself in a New York courtroom for his civil fraud trial.

Meyers playfully described Trump's demeanor during the trial, likening him to a disgruntled "teen at the DMV forced to watch a video about the dangers of drunk driving."

Seth Meyers jokes about Donald Trump's townhall with Sean Hannity

Meyers then injected humor as he discussed the aftermath of Trump's town hall hosted by Fox News's Sean Hannity.

When Hannity asked Trump to promise not to abuse his power to harass his enemies, Trump's response, stating he wouldn't be a dictator except on the first day, caused shockwaves.

Meyers playfully observed Trump's apparent enjoyment, highlighting, “I will say, I love how much Trump enjoys making Hannity miserable,” Meyers laughed.

He pointed out, “Hannity is clearly trying to help Trump out and Trump laughed in his face like he was Joe Pesci about to whack ’im".

He added, "Whenever Hannity interviews Trump, there’s this weird dynamic where Hannity, the interviewer, is desperately trying not to make news, and Trump the candidate is like ‘Sean, this is boring shit, I’m gonna make some news’."

Seth Meyers highlighted that the incident at Trump's town hall angered some of his allies, not necessarily because Trump mentioned being a dictator, but rather because Hannity posed the question in the first place.

“I love watching all these horrible people fight with each other,” said Meyers.

“Christie calling Vivek obnoxious, Trump calling DeSantis a meatball, Bannon calling Hannity an idiot and no one calling Trump anything lest he eat them like a french fry. It’s such a striking contrast with the other side,” he declared

Seth Meyers takes a jibe at GOP candidates' lack of unity

Meyers also played other clips from the GOP debate, highlighting the minimal mention of Donald Trump. Ron DeSantis, when asked directly about Trump's fitness for the presidency, avoided giving a direct answer, prompting Chris Christie to call attention to the evasion.

Notably, Vivek Ramaswamy directed much of his focus on attacking Nikki Haley during the debate, leading Christie to come to her defense and dub Ramaswamy "the most obnoxious blowhard in America."

Meyers' recap humorously underscores the dynamics and lack of unity among the candidates on the debate stage.

“Hey, hey everyone, break it up! There’s no need to fight. You’re all obnoxious blowhards,” Meyers retorted.

“And yet, based on the polls, your problem is you don’t blow hard enough,” he joked, as he concluded his humorous take.
